Any thoughts on this one?

My dad had a friend of his from up north send him this. He said he didn't know how old it was but he figures from the 70's, said he never carried it and wanted my dad to have it. Sorry for the crappy pics, it was taken in haste by my mom.

It's a Husky brand multitool that says 25th aniversary on both the sheath and the tool itself. Craftsmanship is quite good and I am impressed, any thoughts or history on this tool?

I had always assumed those were from China. Have you had a chance to handle it yet Dave?

Yes, the handles at quick thick and well built, brass and stainless steel used. Not too heavy but has a wicked snap to it. No evidence of where it was manufacured but makes me think due to construction that it would be something like germany. Construction seems too good for that old of a knife to be china, course I could be wrong. The style echos that of traditional pocket knife mixed with multitool parts.

From the pictures it looks like they did a good job of inlaying the wood and the brass.

Husky you say that tool looks to new to be from the 70s maybe thats just what the guy thought but I don't think they beat LM to the punch on the plier thing I need to see if I can find something out about this tool

Husky does make fine heavy duty tools don't get me wrong but it's just hard to believe that this tool is that old

I'm not sure if it's the exact same tool but the Home Depot down here was selling that style of tool under their Husky house brand about 2 years ago. Same handles and implements, I remember it being quite large and hefty.

If it's really from the 70's, it's too old to be anything from china. I think outsourcing to china only started in the 90's.

It's not from the '70s. The most obvious reason for this is the Husky logo on the plier pivot. As far as I can find this logo was created sometime after Home Depot licensed the Husky name in 1992.

I've also seen this model of multi under the Sheffield brand. They don't have the exact model on their site but they do have similar styles with the wood/brass handles. I bet lonediver would know more.

hmm...When did the Husky brand start? Take that year and add 25 more years (for this 25th anniversary tool), and you have the year of manufacture

I believe it is a universal brand Chinese multitool cause there is a company named Guidesman who has the identical multi tool .. the company probably stamps all sorts of company names on it....
