I'm sure this has come up before .  I think it was Bob (J-Sews) that mentioned it so hopefully he'll chime in soon (could be wrong though).

Please, if you have any info on this matter... PLEASE HELP... it is giving me a headache.

You do seem to be having a lot of problems with it.

I bought it for daily use and I want it to work as it should.
It frustrates me when I can't open one of the tools because the other one has tightened it.

Damn... I think I've done it  :drink:

After few attempts with tightening and loosening the screws (by turning them 1/4 or 1/2 of a turn clockwise and counterclockwise) it didn't get any better (the clip point blade was aligned but the saw was still making problems  :ahhh ) so I've moved to more drastic measures.

I opened the saw halfways (90 degrees) and wiggled it laterally because it looked to me as if the saw was stuck to the screw so I tried to use it as a lever and make some space between them.

For now it opens and closes without moving the screws.

I'll keep you posted if anything changes

P.S. Sorry guys for chatting on the topic but I love my new Surge and I couldn't let some silly little flaw mock the tool brand Leatherman Surge >:(

You are right, by the way, the code is MMYY.

Now I could start my own construction company using only the tools in my tool-room

Hey markof, sorry I've been away for a couple days and wasn't able to help. It sounds like you've got your Surge figured out. It is one heck of a great tool isn't it? :)
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

I hope so. I'm just curios how much force (lateral and "longitudinal"  :D) can the torx screws take (because of the wiggling)?
