I've been looking for a single blade knife for awhile now, but haven't found anything that met my requirements of: locking, OHO and people friendly.
Some how or another, I stumbled upon some pics of opinels modded with an easy open notch, and though that may do the trick. So, I ordered a No 6 in olive wood. A no 6 because it was closest in size to my EDC pioneer and olive wood because the grain is supposed to be quite nice.
Once I got it, within 30 minutes I had ground the blade into a SAK like spear point. I find this much more aesthetically pleasing than the clip point. I also rounded off the back end of the handle to make it more comfortable. I also found that I could pinch the blade open just fine as is without a notch, so for now, I'm leaving it be.
I also decided to make a pretty cruddy DIY pocket sheath to keep it from getting banged up by my flashlight.
SO far, I'm really liking the knife. The very simple, yet highly functional design is very appealing to me. Plus the olive wood grain is lovely. Its already making me wonder if I could somehow add some steel liners to make it even tougher...

Apologies for the crappy pics. It is overcast and quite dark here.
