UK Meet Up Collection Highlights
on: July 10, 2008, 11:10:54 PM
Right my camera is sadly dead, and my mobile camera's not terribly reliable either, but I thought I'd share my collection highlights from the meet in no particular order :)

1) From Ben, got to be those 2 mega sexy 1957 Soldiers, it's hard to believe just how gorgeous they really we're, he very nearly didn't get them back

2) From Ryan, Got to be his home made fixed blade :) , his pictures don't do it justice, the fit and finish is of a standard I'm used to seeing from experienced bladesmiths! A+ mate :)

3) From Dunc, hmm this one's a toughey, Elsner Swisstool, or Sebbie , Ah crap, I'm a vic man through and through, so it's got to be the Elsner Swisstool, but strangely he didn't bring his shrine with him  :D

4) From Dave, ok this is gona sound a little odd, but probably his Mini's (odd because I usually only like HD MT), but I was really smitten by it :), it's pretty much 9/10 on the gadget factor :)

5) From Nick, What else could it be, but the knife that like to sample the user's blood from time to time :D. I believe it's called the Kershaw Daemon :D

6) From Neil, Another toughey, as I have a huge weakness for Sak porn. But for me it's his restored Pioneer, trust me when I say it's one of the most beautiful knives I have EVER seen  , the work he's put into it is exceptional :)

I hope the owners will now step forward and show off all the knives you lot missed out on :)

1) From Mike, his custom fixed blade (big Colin one)
2)From Ryan, his own custom fixed blade
3)From Dunc, has to be the Sebbie    (really really smooth!  :D)
4)From Dave, has to be the Mini again, although the Camo Charge was pretty sweet.  :)
5)From Flash, probably the Meyerco Paradox or the CRKT edgie.
6)From Neil, the Ribbed ALOX cadet

What - this camo Charge?

Early in the day....

I didn't actually get many pics. I have a few more which I'll post up later, but here's hoping Roadie and Dunc got more than I did!

I used to come here a lot.

OK, my favourite tools:

Ben - Got to be the riveted PST. Nuff said.

Mike - Was it your Spirit I looked at? If so, probably that as I'd not seen one before! (It's no Charge though is it ;) )

Ryan - I'm going to go with his home-made knife. Like myself, Ryan is not the tallest bloke your going to meet, and he could have crafted that knife to fit my hand!

Dunc - The Sebbie. Just felt like quality.

Neil - Whilst I do like (and EDC) a Vic SAK, I'm more of a MT guy and SAKs don't really get me excited. However, I do appreciate the weird and wonderful and was quite smitten by (and indeed traded for) this Wenger Swissroller. I love it :D

Flash - It turns out that Flash and myself have almost identical tastes in MTs, and just about everything he passed around - I liked. I had my first introduction to Leatherman knives, and now own one :D I genuinely find it hard to pick a favourite though. My "coming together" with the Kershaw E.T. has been documented elsewhere - and if I had to pick one highlight it would be that. I intend to get one of these sooner rather than later.

Here's another gratuitous money shot:

I used to come here a lot.

I suppose it depends on what you class as useful?

I think being able to carry it so 'covertly' is very useful indeed!

Especially in this day and age yes :)

But for me an MT has to be able to handle just about everything, and anything less than that, to me, defeats the object :)

I don't do minimilism in MT's :D

Bens Soldiers , lovely peices

Neils superb collection of SAKs and that Rescue Tool  :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme: :gimme:

Ryans fixed blade project , stick with that mate you've got something there  ;)

Daves Leatherman collection  :o Now thats what I call a plier based tool collection . And I think we were all taken with the Mini tool , thats seriously underated .

Flash for the amazing ability to make wonderfull things from para cord and what alot of it he had too  :D

Mike for his skill of making things burn under bad  ( very bad ) conditions and his skill of keeping things together .

The best tools to come out of the meeting for me that I hadnt seen before are the Vic Rescue tool (  :gimme: ) , LM Mini tool , the Zilla ( I think me and Ben were the only ones who like it ) and the LM Blast , fuse and Core Range . I was quite impressed with them .
