Quote from: zoidberg on December 30, 2014, 11:26:40 AMNice pics mate. Hopefully next time I can tag along. Who is the other guy?A friend (and owner of a broken Wave).I would like to do another in the area such as Cass-Lagoon after New Year's Eve but I need to1) recover, and2) get my pack down to half the weightfirst. If you're keen?
Cool! And lucky you, seems you managed to walk all that way without running into any Uruk-Hai.

It's been at least 15 years since I did that loop.

Beauitful country to tramp in!
What a breathtaking place ... Great pics mate, it seems I have another place to add to my "bucket list".Thanks for sharing .
Beautiful pics!I watched a series called "I shouldnt be alive" and your pics look exactly like one episode where a guy is hiking in the New Zealand mountains and has a fall. His dog basically saves his life keeping him going and warm at night. He makes it to one of those sleep cabins and someone gets help for him finally. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2008892/
Great stuff mate...I'll be off to Kaimai forest in a few days, Hobitton Movie set on the way back thru Matamata. Kids will be stoked!I didn't know you were into tramping and always wondered what that avatar picture of your depicted Before now I thought that was someone wearing a heavy space suit banging his head in the white painted wall - LOL!
I'm jealous about that hike! I'd love to go to NZ some day. As a Norwegian, the pictures from your place is a very fascinating mix of the extremely familiar and the utterly alien.

I carried my dedicated tramping knife, a Wenger Ranger 58:http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,52248.25.htmlI didn't use it at all. Just as well, being Official 31-Day SKELETOOL* Challenge month (don't tell Kampfer!).I think my Camelbak is a Better Bottle (on the hut table), which seems to have been replaced by the Eddy and Groove. My friend's is in the bird pic - I think it's a Groove.I actually had a setup on the first day with a molle vest with pouch on one side and Camelbak bottle pouch on the other. Really handy having water, camera, snacks readily accessible without taking my pack off but it was too bulky underneath. I'm going to try to devise a way to connect them to the front of the pack straps/hip belt.
