Not as many new products as I expected but they normally get announced gradually during the calendar year. For now we have a new travel-friendly knifeless Dime (bound to become an instant classic with frequent travellers EDC-ing little keychain multitools, IMO), a nice Gator premium CP folder etc.

Parnass will be glad to know both MP1-AR and MP1-MRO versions of the military/tactical MP-1 will be available.

There's even more orange-colored BG cr@p in the catalog (sorry Chako  8)) but that's pretty much it. All eyes now on Leatherman Signal to be publicly announced in some 10 days or so.  :tu:  :pok:

Too bad the knife-less Dime does not come in that pretty BO/purple combo. And a zipper-hook? Really? I think a toothpick would have been better.

And what is that BG Greenhorn Tool. I hope the picture is cut of to the right, that does look wrong... And overall UGLY :P

Last year was LM trial year for me. This year I'm going to test the Gerbers, maybe one of them will suit me.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

They really must have ran out of ideas for the time as nothing took the blades spot. And isn't greenhorn the name used by loggers to mark the new inexperienced guys? Not sure that's the name I'd pick

I didn't see the Octane in the catalog. Did I just miss it or have they killed it?

Also AR, shotgun, and archery specific "one piece tools".

Just checked the previous 2014 catalog, it isn't listed there either.

Purple Dime picture. Couldn't find pics of any of the other new tools, though.

(Image removed from quote.)

The little knife was one of the strong points of the Dime - one of the best keychain sized tool knives I've come across IMHO ... however I do like the look of this Dime Travel, assuming the dedicated file is cut better than the very sorry (and ugly) "texture" they cut on the Phillips.

The BG Greenhorn is another attempt at a SAK contender ... fail!  :P

The knifeless 600 could be a good move for them (I know it's been mentioned here before) as there is a defecit of full sized bladeless tools on the market. I'm just having a few minutes breather from making something with a BO Diesel

I'm still not convinced about the MP1 though. Firstly there's the erratic nature of how well the Saf-T-Lock system retains the stowed tools when one is deployed as I mentioned in another thread. Then there's the fact they wasted the introduction of the forged pliers my hollowing them out and putting a spring in them. Sprung pliers are nice, but not when it reduces strength and increases wear by reducing surface area .... and then there's the price tag. Understandable if they've moved to closed die forging the pliers and putting on a full 1/4" hex driver ... but those couple of compromises/uncertainties make me very cautious.

Yeah, but it isn't really. Most of it is old news and already announced during 2014.

I think it looks good and if they add other colors like orange or green it will be a sales argument by itself.

They really must have ran out of ideas for the time as nothing took the blades spot.

My thoughts too. There would be at least 1 or 2 extra spacers in there now, taking up potentially useful space.  :td:

 The blade and package opener have been replaced with a hook and dedicated file ... or did I miss something?

Okay, maybe I'm stupid . Not sure why I thought that, something in my head made it look like there was only 3 spots filled. Sorry Al

You're definitely not. While there are 5-6 tool implements on both models, the tool load on that knifeless Dime leaves a lot to be desired, IMO. It looks like an invalid compared to the original model. Some may find that zip puller / hook or larger file useful, some will loath it and wish its place was used for another tool which still fits travel-friendly category.

I quite like it actually (I know, I'm strange ) I don't think the hook is necessarily a bad idea either, even though I'm not usually a big fan or user of the one one SAKs. I do kinda wish they went for a toothpick instead of the tweezers though. To be honest, the plier tips on my Dimes meet so well, they actually do a better job that the onboard tweezers do

Yup, I do like the toothpick as a possible option, as you get older you tend to reach for it a lot more often  :D

With the name and blunt tip blade, I'm thinking the "greenhorn" is an attempt at a entry level kid training knife.

I was originally thinking it was a bit faux tanto ... but I see what you mean now
