I have the answer to your question: It depends on who´s the buyer.

Movie and Game replica collectors are not very different from MT-collectors, while the stuff is not for use but only for display, they love to hold and fiddle the replicas. And they want it as accurate and authentic as possible - it´s not unusual we buy rare guns and sights, vintage cameras or other stuff for thousands just do cut them, disassemble them for a few parts. And then rearange them exactly the same way as the movie guys did. The gun and camera collectors hate that.

Another thing is it with the cosplayers - due to carrying and using the stuff in public they need to handle it different. Their stuff needs to be light and not dangerous in any way. As it can be lost or damaged, too, it shouldn´t be to expensive. They use wood, MDF, and many different foams and plastics.

There was a glimpse of a Thundercats sword in that clip. Would I rather have a metal one or a plywood one? No contest, I'd take the metal one. These aren't swords, but rather wall ornament and display models. There is no difference in those to the lightsabre I was gifted when I was best man at a mates wedding. I think the guy is onto a good number there, and seems to turn out a good product for his intended audience.

I have a friend who is a full time sword maker and for the most part he makes some seriously lovely historical blades. However one of his best selling items a few years ago were these: http://www.macdonaldarms.com/armoury/SOP.php A lovingly crafted version of the He-Man (and She-Ra) swords.

I hate to say this...but all I could see was that cow bell contraption. I just couldn't get past the thought that it must be freaking annoying to wear...the way it dug into the chest.

But besides that, not something I would go for...but I can appreciated the work.

I have a few long swords...and they are not something I would want to go against in trained hands. I would think in a fight, the long sword would win over a 54 pound bruiser any day.
