Sorry, I had a proper look and there is a Victorinox Delemont tang stamp on the main blade. Does this answer your question? What does this mean? Is there is a quality difference, or this is a dud unit?

Not a dud at all.
The Wenger line was scrapped and the New Delemont line took over. Basically the same as the old Wenger's but Vic changed out a few tool with there own and put the Vic cross on them.

Many thanks. Who is Tosh?
My father has the original Wenger model, and comparing them, they are the same, but the Vic one does seem better constructed, probably because its brand new. The back spring on the file is terrible though. I prefer the SwissChamp/ Handyman, hence the sale.

But if there is no bite, I'll keep it. The 85mm size is dinky and it can live in my scooter's glovebox.

Tosh is one of us. He got a wee bit annoyed about Wenger being morphed into Delemont.

It's kind of one of the forum running jokes ;)

Wasn't "Delemont" Wenger?? Just Vic's way of sneakily removing the Wenger brand name then naming a subtle reference by way of warped justification.

Wenger =  :drool: :gimme: :drool:
Victorinox =  :rant: :twak:  :rant:

Is that subtle enough  :rofl:

Best analogy I can think of is likening Victorinox to battery EGG farming (uniform and bland) whereas Wenger would definitely be Free Range (fresh and original) :D  :drink:

Thanks for letting me in on the joke. I'm firmly a Victorinox man myself and see Wenger as a second rate product. It stems from my first experience with the special red knife. It happened to be a Victorinox Huntsman, I still have it in fact. Had it been a Wenger, I'd be in the other camp!
