I say none of these tools need to be removed from the lineup.

So do I. In fact I was reluctant at first because this could be seen as a SAK tool hate thread which wasn't my intention at all. I just wanted to see what people think. I'm glad I did, I am amazed by how many people don't like the hook :o

I don't remember exactly but I think the inspiration for this poll came from a series of "this or that?" threads going on at the time :D

My three favorite SAK'S have those tool's on them. So no hands off my combo tool, scaler and hook. These SAK'S would not be what they are without these tool's.

You know, the Hunter is a very interesting model  :tu:

Thanks, the camo ones from back in 08 have a back side Phillips  instead of CS. Makes the Hunter just a little more useful.

Does prey come with screws nowadays?  ???  :P

I want to change my vote.  Stupid combo tool, needs to be consigned to room 101.  Fish scalers FTW. :tu:

The combo tool open cans (not as good as a Vic can opener but better then a rock and a screwdriver) opens bottles turns screws and stips wire. That's a lot for a small piece of metal. For it's size it offers a whole lot of usefulness.

I think I'd actually like the combo tool much better if only they made it a tad thicker  :-\

The forked end on the fish scaler is also great for guiding a string with a magnet tied on the end so that you can drop it straight down on a set of keys that just got kicked into a storm drain.

So the fish scaler can actually help fish things out of their hiding place.  Good info

I have the Cybertool 41, which includes almost every worthwhile tool except either of these two, and is as close as you can get to the Swisschamp without a fish scaler. In fact, I haven't yet bought a genuine SAK with this tool, so it seems a little unfair to judge it, though I can't see myself ever actually scaling fish with a multitool. On the other hand, the ruler would be handy, and the SwissChamp seems like an inevitable future purchase (well, I haven't got a knife with the magnifier...). I prefer the separate opener tools to the combi tool, but then it does make possible the Waiter, currently my EDC for peeling fruit and opening things, and all the knife I need for lunch or a picnic in a tiny package. So that brings us to the parcel hook, something I've never missed on my pre-hook Huntsman or ever found a use for on the Cybertool. Out with it!

No but my Jeep, lantern, stove and rifle all have screws and I'm not a wine drinker.
Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?

Thin can be a good thing. I have no problem packing a heavy SAK sometimes two( Swisschamp and Soldier on some days) but dress pants don't work to Good with heavy SAK. Not many tool's are as thin as a Alox Bantam w\o the combo tool it's just a knife add the combo tool and it's a whole lot more in just one thin layer.

P.S.
I forgot to mention the 111mm combo tool is about the same thickness as a 91mm cap lifter so it's plenty thick enough for most tasks.

Have you seen this thread yet? http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,66478.msg1276099.html#msg1276099 :)

Hey thank you, and I opened the link and really liked some good ideas with this definitely needed tool.

Sorry for the late reply, I was away and it must has slipped my mind.

If that's the case then the Hunter is a very, very interesting SAK. I have a hard time handling slim SAKs, two layer Pioneers is the minimum for me.

Somehow I remembered Cmdt. Lassard know

I admit I mainly use the hook along with the scissors to get a better grip if I'm going to be using them for any prolonged cutting but I'm sure it has other uses as well  ;)

I'll take your word for it as I wouldn't know.  :)

I'd much prefer it if the file was reinstated instead of dropping the hook. I wonder why the good people at Victorinox HQ decided against that file in the first place.

(Plain blade / combo tool) + fish scaler + scissors + cybertool driver + (magnifier / LED) + corkscrew = PERFECT SPIRIT COMPANION!

Then make it in ruby & sapphire with the fish inlay! I call it the compact midnight cyber fish!
