LED convertion kit for Mini Maglite 2AA
on: April 28, 2008, 01:30:59 PM
I am planning to order online LED convertion kit for my Mini Maglite 2AA. What is the best in the market in terms of brightness and durability? I am not worried about battery runtime, size AA battery is cheap here.

Thank you in advance.

Eddie

There are a few threads here in the flashlight forum that go into quite a bit of detail about the LED options.

It'll probably eat alkaline aa like popcorns, rechargeable aa will fare better.

Although if you really don't care about runtime, just brightness, you can always try this: http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/auroralite_hotwire.htm It's about 200 lumens out front! :D

The hotwire is one conversion I'd love to give a go.  :D

Terry, has there been any news on an Elecktrolumens upgrade yet ???

I don't think Wayne is going to do one.  He investigated it, produced one prototype and moved on to other things.

Ed, just got a gerber infinity ultra from Hahn last night. It's compact and light but quite expensive. (40USdol or 1,616PhilPes). I'll post the pics later. By the way, they're also selling LED conversion kit for 2cell maglite for 40USdoll also. Better buy online

Fil, thanks for the info. I almost got myself an Infinity Ultra last January when I requested my friend to buy one for me when he went to Canada. He was not able to find one at the malls, so he got me a Mini Palm instead.

Gerber Infinity Ultra is a very reliable, tough and water tight and I'm sure you will be happy with it. I'll be in Manila on Friday and I will see that Maglite convertion kit you mentioned. The last time I visited Hanh store in SM Cebu I noted the prices of multitools. The price there is more than double compare to online prices. They sell Wave at 7,000 and Charge TTi at 12,000 pesos.

Was there an Omnivore on display at Hahn, Fil? It is more expensive than Infinity Ultra but it can accept either AAA, AA or CR123.

Eddie

I'm not so sure if hahn has omnivore. Plenty of surefires, new led lensers and the new inova are on display. Give me a call if you're already here. Glad to accompany you, I'll show you some of my stuff.

Teofilo, Duckman and Joekym, it’s about time we should seriously consider online purchase. We will first determine the reliability of our postal service. I have already done 3 online purchases, last April 16, April 23 and April 26 but until now I haven’t receive yet the item in my first purchase. Will let you know of the result later.

I made a mistake in my last purchase. After confirming my online payment I was informed by Thomas Distributing that they don't shipped to Philippines. I adviced them to ship it to my friend in California instead. I hope online stores should indicate at the top of their home pages whether they ship internationally or not.

That was a sale price I got, and they're not longer available at that price, unfortunately.  Tim and EDCDepot are both good sources for them.

You are right Eddie! The price here of multitools, flashlights and accessories are more than double! And Hahn's the only store and monopolizes the sale of LM tools and accessories. Let's buy online!!

I bought a conversion kit for mine back when they were expensive as all get out I had went under the house one night to fix the air duct, and left my light on all night by accident. I went down there to get it the next day after work, and it was still going. The red light was on, indicating batteries getting low, but still really good after being on all that time. These were standard Duracell batteries.

yeah no kidding. I have lost about 4 2AA maglites over the years letting people borrow them and not getting them back. I got one that stays in my car, and it has a rechargeable battery, and plugs into my cigarette lighter. I believe they even have the LED conversion kit for D cell maglites now too.

I can confirm that Terralux do have conversion kits for c and d cell maglites after my recent camping trip I plan to stick one in my old 3 D maglite
