Back pain!
on: April 06, 2015, 09:18:17 PM
I have been having a lot of lower back pain lately. I have tried those capsaicin patch's which have not helped at all. Any advice or recommendations before I go see a doctor?

Yyyeah, I'm only writing to say I have no advice and should go to a doc myself, but haven't..... coz I have an... upper back pain and it's been lasting for years and it seems to disappear when I walk a lot/do something active, but once I "cool off" and stay ... it starts again :X

As for the lower back pain .. maybe you do need to see a doc, because depending on where it is, it maybe different stuff...  I hope you get better soon :tu: Is it some old trauma? Or has it appeared.. just so?

No specific trauma, but I have been having minor back pain for a year or so. Just in the last week it has become much more prominent and is really screwing me up as well as effecting my already screwed up sleep pattern.

Didn't you get new work boots?

Did you keep your old boots? Or maybe try new insoles? It's amazing what some 20 dollar dr. Scholls Gellin' Insoles will do

I also suffer from back pain which is fairly chronic if I don't keep stretched out. Besides going to the chiropractor as a last resort when I can feel somethings out of whack I have found that stretching helps the most. I do it first thing in the morning once or twice during the day and before I go to bed. Also staying hydrated helps as well .

If this came on suddenly and is fairly severe pain it could be kidney stones, hopefully it not that and just the new boots.

I just tried to make a appointment and after waiting on hold and getting hung up on TWICE I was told the soonest appointment would be 2 months away! WTF do I even have health insurance for if I have to wait 2 months to see a doctor! AHHH!!!!!! I'm so pissed off right now. I threw my pen on the table and now have ink all over my floor and couch. DAMMMIITTT!  :bnghd: :bnghd: :bnghd:

I was trying to bring some levity to this but in all honesty this is the best advice yet. As a result of several crashes I hVe some experience with this. PM me if you'd like to know what I did to avoid surgery.

Captain, if you have insurance then at least go to the E.R. and get some relief. They should be able to expedite the process for you.

Do you have walk in clinics that you can go to without an appointment?  A 2 month wait is ludicrous!  I thought my doctor was bad at a 1 week wait.

I hope you can get in, and get sorted out quickly!!

Doctors did absolutely nothing for my back pain except prescribe painkillers/anti-inflammatories.
Physios did absolutely nothing for my back pain.
A Chiropractors freed it right up.

Do you sit at work or are you on your feet?

Careful with the narcotic pain pills it can lead done an ugly road.

Ibuprofen and ice packs have gotten me through some severe pain including  passing a kidney stone.

I got into a urgent care today. All they said was it might be my sciatic nerve. They gave me a anti inflammatory and a muscle relaxer. I was told I might want to get a MRI. I just hope I ca get some relief for now and go from their.

Oh man, I remember I was only like 16 when I first threw my back out, I was bowling, went to throw hips like 10\4 o'clock and as the ball went forward the thumb didn't come out, so the shoulders went like 7/1 o'clock, and then all you heard was click as i hit the floor and the ball dropped! Ever since then my back has been a problem, as I type it's soar, normally I would get cracked but with the price of insurance going up I'd have the wife do it, just lay flat on the floor and she would lightly press down until pop, then lower down pop, and lower pop! Sometimes 3-4 pops at once..

You think that's bad. I called my primary care physicians office and she is booked solid through the end of the year. I could not even get a appointment until next year if I wanted to see her. My particular health care is a joke at best.

I would start shopping around.  I'm not totally pleased with my dr's office, but they do have a specific morning, once a week where they except walk ins.

This seems like very sound logic. Clearly you are a doctor, or in pre med or some sort of professional. My back doesn't hurt at all and I'm  going to take your advice. :drink:

8 months ago I got a slipped disk which gas trapped a nerve in my spine I had horrendous back pain and pain in my right leg . I also found out that my left leg was shorter so went to a podiatrist who made me some insoles to even me up.i was absolutely crippled for nearly 6 months  then I made a full recovery 2 months ago ,I felt better than ever as I was told my leg had been shorter from birth so that's why it had taken so long th recover from my disc and nerve trouble.
All was goin well till yesterday when it went again at work, now I can hardly walk again, the pains so bad it could make a grown man cry.
