The strap that came with the new one is also less shiny.
Still, the bezel fitted perfectly.

The original Casio Resin is also matte and "velvety" dark when new, the shine comes with age and being worn.
Glad it fits.

I suspected this, but the difference in look was noticeable.
The original one had some lowtech polishing juice on it  :D

It is a shame that I cannot rescue the original one, as it just keeps breaking up more and more.

I will have to wear it again soon.

I used some vinyl/plastic conserver on the resin.
Sadly, once it starts cracking, it is lost.

It will not restore resin, but keep it looking good and feel supple longer.
I have used Armor All and some other products over the years. don´t use a product with a "fresh" smell. I don´t know what the perfume does to the resin, but the smell is annoying.
Vinylex has been recommended on Watchuseek. Armor all has a non- shiny product, too.

Another Jaragar, the A458, about, $14

A seriously good looking, classic, watch, with nice relief on the face, date, month and 24 hour indication using the smaller dials.

It has no lume but has very nice blue dials, that appear dark or light blue, depending on the angle the light hits them at.

It uses a different movement than my other Jaragar, with no relief inside the movement. (They both have adjustment screws inside)

It can be handwound too. The self winding weight is not as free moving as in the other Jaragar. THey also have different shape straps, of the same material.

Relief

Blue dials changing hue

Size comparison

The strap smells leathery, so it must be real leather.

Comparison with a certified German proper leather strap.

Definitely not as good a movement as the Vostok (you just look at the vostok and it starts moving, whereas these need a good shake to come alive) but a very beautifull, interesting and nicely finished watch.

You can see some minor cast marks on the bottom, but the overall finish is excelent. Nicely polished, good alignment on the face, all buttons work, looks expensive, the Jaragar branding is verydistinct and classy looking -- get one, now!

4cm wide, 1.3cm thick.

It is also available in black but the white looks nicer, to me.

Been looking for a blue dial watch for a couple of months now that is good for business attire.

Ended up purchasing the Bulova Accu Swiss Telc Blue 63B185 and just got it USPS today:

It's Bulova's new swiss movement automatic line with sapphire crystal. Bit more than I wanted to spend, but I got it 75% off retail after Befrugal cash back. The Watchery seemed to be closing it out at that price (I think they only had one). Couldn't resist the deal.

I surely overpaid, but since I sold my Casio GW-2500BD ( like this: http://watchshock.com/archive/Casio/G-Shock/GW-2xxx/GW-2500BD-1A/ ) I have been looking for a resin strap variant with positive LCD for better legibility. Bidding at night, with not enough sleep, resulted in a won auction at a price I would rather not have spent. Now I own ( waiting on delivery, though...) a GW-2500B
http://watchshock.com/archive/Casio/G-Shock/GW-2xxx/GW-2500B-1A/
I hope it is as described and does wear as nice as I remember.

I will have to sell some other Aviators now...

Yes, I've worn my Sub since about '79.  :(  But I do like this one!  Probably going to change out the band for that OD zulu style band and put my Suunto compass back on. This leather band is nice but it's in the last hole which is normal for std bands....I have big wrist bones.

Thanks fella, and has I always do to the watches I buy, all second hand, and in this case I trade ,I see how they look inside give thems a good clean disinfected, and lubricated, and try to some how give thems a better look, the metal one was really scratched, it gives it some character, but for me, I know is old, I had to give it some care, some sand paper and a lot of work it looks cool know! But it 's not finished I'm gonna try some different products on it like a fiberglass pen! They still look awesome, just a little more know :)
