Its funny how it says Free Shipping from $25.  I thought they might of meant if you spend $25 you get free shipping, but I do not believe that is the case.

So what's the deal with all these colors. For instance the gold Cadet. Are these specials for Seitz?

Thank you vic for the info

I just ordered 2 gold cadets and 1 silver solo (for modding). From the rate which the previous batch of pink and blue alox were selling, I'm guessing these gold cadets will be sold out in less than 2days. Grab em while you can, boys!

I was skeptical too. Coz it ain't cheap to ship to the opposite side of the globe. But it just goes to show how much his profit margin is

Yes, it seems as Seitz has found out that some guys like colored Alox and he ordered the last few months different colors. pink, light blue, gold, green.
I'm curious what color he will have as next  :)
He could turn out to be a serious competitor for a certain Mr. +B   :pok:

Alright. Thanks for the info. Do you think this will effect the limited runs. What I mean is since he has gold solo's what will that do to the price of the gold solo's limited run of 50 pieces?

Not sure about the others, but now that I have seen how low prices can go, I am less likely to bid ridiculous prices on impulse. I used to think that gunmetal cadets are rare, having seen them go as high as $100+. When I saw one going for $80 buy-it-now, I pounced at it thinking it was a great deal. Now that there's a possibility of re-runs of out-of-stock/rare/limited colours, and with more Alox knives being dumped off on ebay, I think the Alox craze is slowly stabilizing and prices will drop for the new Alox models. Old cross models which are more limited are likely to maintain their value

Good!  It's nice to see other dealers getting to have special runs like that.  There is no reason +B should have the monopoly on that.

Hm, it depends. I suppose the numbered 50 pieces run (like gold solo) will still go high. But for the non-numbered run this is surely a competition. People will think twice before they pay lots of $ for a "limited" run Alox. The orange Farmer is a good example. First when it was available from Cutlery Shoppe they were sold out fast and after that you could buy them on ibuy for 100$ . Then he had a second run and prices went down.
We will see... :)

Do you agree with me that it was a pretty terrible move from Victorinox's side to make a run of gold Cadets while they previously did a limited 50 run of the same thing for Onyva? I feel really cheated here

For some reason I thought Victorinox said they would not do this for that reason specifically, but I guess I was wrong or just imagining things.

I always found it silly a limited edition is something just based on color.  If it was unique in some other way besides color that would make more sense to me.  Limited marlin spike runs or something like that.

Also considering how many collectors there are in the world, only 50 of a certain piece just feels cruel.  Provide what fans want and if there was enough for all there would be no ridiculous aftermarket prices and flippers would be stuck with the number they bought.

I do like that most places getting special runs limited to 2 per customer.  That seems fair.

You can not blame Victorinox for that. They just produce what their sellers and customers (companies, individuals, +B) do order. They do not care who orders when what color. As long as the order doesn't compete with their own editions. So basically lots of Vic's sellers could order the same color.
Your example of the golden Cadet, the first run was made for Onyva and if years later another customer (Seitz) wants to order and sell the same knife in the same color, why should Victorinox refuse this? They even don't know they allready produced this knife before. Nobody guarantees you that an Alox knife will be made only once in 100 years in a particular color. Especially if it is a standard color like gold, red, blue, black, green. Another example is the black Pioneer. It was produced several times for different contries, sellers, etc. Or why should a South African dealer have the monopoly on red, blue, green, orange and black solos?
I understand you, but it's up to you as a customer/collector to decide how much you are willing to pay for a (standard) knife.

I like to mention the example of Spyderco. Their sprint runs all have 600 pieces, and all are individually numbered. Spyderco is legally obliged not to ever make another of that one model ever again, in order not to do wrong to their loyal fans. Lately it seems to me that Victorinox just found a great cash cow and is going for maximum profit

Now looks like there all sold out apart from the Solo.
I've been informed that the shade of green is the same as the South Africa alox run.
It seems the Farmer was the one to sell out first.

Looks like all the scalpers were out in force again.  :twak:
Lets see how long they take to pop-up on-line again?  ::)

The dark green farmers were sold out when I checked. The cadets were still available at USD66. Had a chance to buy them but in the end decided not to pull the trigger... what happened to the seller who sold me pink cadets at EURO25?

As i've already got the Dark Green (2010) and Olive Green (2013) Alox Farmers.
Plus all the other Cadets and Solo's.

Do you really think that? Victorinox makes tens of thousands of knives (SAK and others) every day. A couple dozen colored ones mean nothing in terms of profit.

It looks like they`ve put their prices up, probably to reflect the high demand(relatively) for coloured alox. I`m hoping they get some more in stock because I missed out on the blue and pink Cadets :(

I did manage to snag a green Cadet and then realised I`ve already got that shade

I did say that in the alox greed thread too, that I do not think Victrorinox charges significantly more for a different colour, which is why a few sellers lately were selling the unusual coloured ones, new, for about the same as the silver ones.

The high price is set by the seller, not the manufacturer.

Despite the high prices, all 3 models were sold out in less than a day, including the USD42 green solos. I think I can forget about getting any more great alox deals from seitz and stop checking his website every few hours. If he were to get more alox knives, he will most probably mark up the prices further than this current batch of greens, making his price comparable to +B.

The green Farmer was 75eur. I think that's pretty crazy for a EU dealer, but what do I know, I paid 55eur for a lime green Cadet...

I'm confused about the colors (haven't even seen the latest ones on their website). Are these the same dark green as the ones they had a couple of weeks ago?

The latest run sold out fast. They had Farmers, Cadets, Classics and Solos all in dark green.
I didn't see them on the site before this.
