Well, you get to wear bells on your knees and wave hankies and big sticks at each other.

I'll stick to wearing a skirt and carrying a knife. :D
It does make you wonder what our ancestors were smoking :D

Quite frankly, it's a place I'd like to visit. Haggis sounds delicious, no zippers to speak off, everyone carries a sock knife because they are too hardcore for boot knives and their national animal is a freakin' unicorn

This is a neck knife I like. The Buck KAALA S30V steel. 6 3/4" over all 3" blade. The picture is when it was new it looks more used now. It is my camp knife. Maybe not as thick as some but it works for me.

Here is a custom,by a maker with the moniker of Mal Dion, that could be the fraternal twin to your Buck.

Yes very similar design. Light weight easy to clean are pluses in my opinion.

A couple of small neckers. S30V Hartshook (black) and Smidgen with the KAALA in middle. The Smidgen is in my BO bag. They are handy little blades.

Here is a curve ball - can we consider some folding knives to be neck knives as well? SAK guy's method of carrying his Farmers and Pioneers got me to this. Basically they can do most of the regular tasks that one would do with a fixed under 3inch knife, but for similar weight they can bring more to the table.

And a neck knife is called that because of the position where it is carried. There are people who consider the 4 inch Mora knives to be ideal neck knives, so there aren't a lot of formal qualifiers in that respect. Basically an RTAK 2 can be a neck knife if you carry it around your neck the same way any of the aforementioned knives in this thread can be considered belt knives if they are carried on the belt or boot knives if they are carried in the boot.

I don't see why not. I've carried a farmer on a breakaway lanyard before :)

My own interest is in the super robust fixed blade type knives personally, but there's enough scope for there to be a lot of cross over in what a neck knife really is imo :)

That's just the thing, there are very narrow definitions in some cases and very wide like in this case.

Now going back and forth with looking up knives from your previous topic, all that have been mentioned here can serve as excellent under 4 inch fixed blades. So imagine a Ghost knives Banshee with some handle scales and you can compare it to something like a Smith and sons Brave with relative ease

Yep, my biggest issue though is the lack of comprehensive reviews on some of those blades

Not necessarily all neck knives because of the lack of a good retention sheath for that use, but bladeforums has a new picture thread with some nifty pocket fixed blades: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1299634-Pocket-fixed-blades

Of course, one could always make their own kydex sheath for one of those.

I have carried my Hartsooks more in my pocket than on my neck. But the KAALA has seen so good neck time while camping. As said above most neck knives can be carried how ever is convenient by the users.
The KAALA sheath retention knob is starting to wear out so I may have to look into a custom sheath for it.

I know there was one more prominent youtuber that shared his experience with neck knives almost breaking his rib cage when he slipped. That was somewhat of a wake up call to my clumsy smurf

I would definitely go for an Izula - hands down the only knife I want right now.

I have the TOPS/Buck Liaison.  Did a paracord wrap on the handle so it's a bit more comfortable. With a 3" blade, it's only 2.3oz with the Kydex sheath.  I carry it occasionally on weekend hikes to see how I like the feel...so far so good.

I also have 91mm Climbers (picked up used on the Bay) in each car glove box looped onto 3mm Robline.  I tried carrying one around my neck on a weekend camping trip, forcing myself to use that versus my normal belt or pocket carries. After the weekend, I realized I was comfortable with the neck carry and as a tool, what's not to work well with an SAK?

Battle Horse Knives has their Bone handled Frontier First neck knife on special this month in scandi, flat, and sabre grinds. I really like this style leather sheath for around the neck:
