I was searching around and found out that a second book called "One Year Later" will be coming out later this year. If the first is good I will pick that one up as well once it is released.

I also want to read Into the Wild. I know its probably a "easy read", but that's probably what I need. I loved the movie so the book should keep my attention.

All the Spenser  and Jesse stone books by Robert Parker. It's pretty tough to find one that's not entertaining.
My all time favorite book or books is the Lord of the rings trilogy.

Started reading One Second After today. I got through about 50 pages. I'm really getting into the book and hope I can get some more reading in tonight.

Good call on Robert B Parker. Great yarns!

Just coming to the end of my first Hornblower adventure by CS Forrester. Absolutely great!

Fiction, it's either the Hobbit or Gibson's Neuromancer.  Non-fiction, it's The Making of the English Landscape by WG Hoskins - a fascinating look at how seemingly unimportant places develop over time.

Long time fan of Forester.   :tu:  Check out 'The Good Shepherd'.

After Hornblower, check out the Aubrey/Manturin series by Patrick O'Brian.

Sounds interesting. Just ordered it through Prospector inter-library loan.

I prefer popularised science books, about nature and the cosmos. Geology, Astronomy, History, Biology, Evolution, Paleontology, Natural History in general, some Sociology etc.
I used to read Science fiction a lot, Heinlein and Dick being my favorites.
From literature I choose the classics. Best of all is genius Swift, and Gulliver's Travels my all time. I also loved Les Miserables, Notre Damme, Crime and Punishement, War and Piece.

Now with our financial  situation and the methods employed by the WMF and EU, the "Modest Proposal" of Swift comes in my mind again and again.

That it is!  I had the same issue with Candide, Detron.  I figured a book that old would be boring.  I was VERY wrong.

I don't think I have a favorite book but I read 1984 in high school and looking back, its freaky how ahead of its time that book was and it paints a vivid picture of today's culture.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Choosing favorite books is as futile for me as choosing favorite SAKs, but a book I think deserves a mention here is Catch 22 (Joseph Heller). For something completely different, Immortality (Milan Kundera) was the book which made me start reading again after quite a few years only reading scientific and technical stuff. Great book, great author. Nineteen-eighty-four is a great book, but reading some of Orwell's essays in the original English language was very entertaining for someone with English as a second language. His mastery of structure and language make those essays a real pleasure to read, even though the subject matter often is utterly depressing.
