I think the title should be "better than a farmer"

I do not think my harvester aims to become a farmer to feel complete.   :D
For my needs the extra pruning blade is a lot more useful than the can opener + screw driver of the farmer.

I have never needed to open a can with one of them and the fact that the screwdriver part is often damaged in the used ones, shows that it is not really up to the standard people expect, for whatever they assume it is for.(maybe prying or hard screwing)

Good for peeling oranges, but so is any knife  :D

I agree but I've always been afraid to say so and get a pitchfork thrust through me.

PM me if you want one of my kidneys for your SOG TiNi multitool.

OK, both my kidneys.

One of the main things I use mine for is on cans/Phillips screws and never had an opener/driver damaged in use. Never really found a use for the pruning blade.   ???

I use the can opener a lot, it fits T20-25, #1&2 phillips, small (and some not so small) flathead, and #2 square (if they're not super tight), and staple removal. I use the can opener for tin cans frequently, even when there's a perfectly good screw type opener within arm's reach. I also use it for opening other things, it's a really indispensable tool IMHO. I prefer having a small utility blade also, but I would rather have the can opener any day. Most 91's have both, so with alox, unless it's a mod, it's one or the other. The Harvester and Elec. plus are very cool models, but I would greatly miss the can opener if I carried one. It boils down to personal preference I think.

I wouldn't even think about dropping the opener layer on any of my EDC's - I'm not sure if we're behind the rest of the world, or if it's just because I buy cheap tins, but I rarely come across a ring pull can.

And as Weasel says, the Vic tin opener is really easy to use. It's been years and years since I used a stand alone tin opener

I will have to to out of my way to find cans needing an opener  :o

About 7 years ago I got a fancy Kenwood electric can opener.... after 4 years I realised that I had used it 3 times. I gave it away as a gift though it is still getting no use.

I do have a proper Victorinox can opener. Tomato paste    cans sometimes need an opener I think.

And some older army rations used to...

Does being where not much edible exists in or out of cans have something to do with it?

The Walker isn’t quite a Farmer...

The Bushcrafter might be a bit closer, but it’s still not quite a Farmer.
