I have a small collection of world coins. Some were picked up on trips abroad; some bought out of the till back when I was a clerk in my college days (big university town with lots of foreign students); some dug out of coin tubs at coin shops at so many per dollar. Nothing particularly valuable, but its fun to look at the different designs from around the world. Recently gave a small batch to the Pastor's kids, along with some foreign stamps accumulated while buying SAKs from overseas.
Omg, stamps! That's another thing the wife used to collect, and I will be looking into, she's got a HUGE photograph book full plus others..

Nice collection.  :tu:

For some reason I always liked the Susan B Anthony dollars. I almost have a complete set with all the variants as well as the Proof coins and proof variants.
Thanks, yeah those Susan b coins are nice. I guess I'll have to do some research on them, cause I honestly have no clue on any of them,,
JR

Most are not worth anything really. The proofs, 1999's and variants are what are harder to find. Do some research and see what you have. It might spark some interest in putting together a Susan B collection.  :tu:
Yeah out of everything I think the most valuable coin is one of the eagles, other then that Theirs a $20 gold coin which is made into a necklace, in a little case even with paperwork, and I think one other, but I think everything else is maybe a little above face value..

Cool! I used to adore coins as a kid and people would give me coins from countries they've been to :tu: I have a PILE of them, literally, from countries all over the world. Just, back then I never got into sorting them out and now my passion has cooled down, so I'm not in the mood for that. They're just in a box :D They aren't precious, though, the most recent manifestation of my love for coins was when I bought some silver and gold bullion coins.

I used to be one. Still add a piece or two every now and then.

Here is an older thread with some of my coins.

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,31552.msg523404.html#msg523404

I do have a 1929 used flying eagle...I had to check to be certain.

I also have a binder full of foreign coins.

See this stack...those are first day covers that need to be entered into the collection. They have been there for over half a year, getting slowly bigger as I accrue the recent ones as they come out.

Not exactly very organized.    :D

I've collected different kinds of coins, mostly when I was a kid.  Later, I did't so much collect them as keep them as souvenirs of travels.

Yeah, my granny was born in 1925, so she/her parents have used these :D Not sure when they were changed for newer ones. I won't post pictures, though, as I'm not sure if that won't cause me some legal trouble. Our stupid law makers thought of a new law that you should pay some tax/fee for owing everything that's older than 60 years. It's considered antique, you possess it, you pay the state. wtf. i.e. it turns out we'll have to pay gran's old and broken wardrobe, too. Or her rugs. Or her set of rusty forks  Or mom's baby clothes, too, actually.

It's a ny-nj "path coin" port authority trans Hudson. The others are Philly coins.

Here is the binder in question. Years ago, I decided to put everything away nice and neat...and I am thankful for that. None of the coins have tarnished any inside their protective sleeves.

A little Leatherman information.

Awesome, Chako! I always admire it when people put lots of effort into collecting, organizing and taking care of something for years :tu:

When it comes to coins, I have the weird habit of wondering what a certain coin was traded for, what it bought, did it feed a hungry person, did it buy someone's present, did anyone die for it..
