In terms of money, probably travel.

In terms of time, probably books.

SAKs are probably second in both categories.

I just can't get enough of plier based multitools. I like SAKs, but the more points of articulation, the better. The fiddlyness of MTs is just plain fun when I'm not using them.

I replied SAK's - I prefer reading, and going out exploring more but I always take a SAK. MT's, flashlights etc just don't hold my interest - I can see the utility in my Spirit, but it's not as interesting as any of my SAK's.

From the list SAKs though MTs are close behind.  I prefer bikes though: reading about them, building and repairing them, but most of all riding them.

Multi-tools for me I guess. Although I tend to skip from hobby to hobby whenever it suits my brain, which is quite often.
A little Leatherman information.

Watches, SAK's, cars, and family hold a shared slot at number one, and then electronics and tractors hold slot two

Always been the Victorinox knives for me.

I like simple flashlights and use Moras when I need a fixed blade.  I own a couple of Leathermans, but rarely carry them these days.

But, I never leave the house with a Victorinox in my pocket.

A very close call, SAK it is after all. I've always liked fixed-blade knives and Victorinox offerings. SAK wins because I don't carry a fixed blade around every day.

Do I like me a good fixed-blade though!

I am really into flashlights, SAK and folders (Spydercos)
I have around 60,100,50 respectively

Multi tools I only have 4; fixed blades maybe 10.
Very much a user while I am an enthusiast in the top three.
I also have more firearms than flashlights, SAKs may have recently overtaken them in numbers but not sure.

In regards to the survey, SAKs RULE!

To me, plier-based MTs and flashlights are necessary, needed, fun, and I have a bunch.  I enjoy guns, but as Lynn noted, firearms are expensive, though I have quite a few of those.

Fixed blades and large folders have alway captured my attention (see some of my Bucks below).  But pocketable (84mm) SAKs are where it's at for me, and I'm warming up to the 91mm and 93mm two and three layer versions.

 :climber: for me

I have always carried a Vic SAK for 40+ years and up until a couple of years ago had about 4 or 5 - all users. Huntsman, Rucksak, Tourist, a couple of 58s.

About 10 years ago I got a LM Wave.

Then about two years ago I started expanding the collection (youtube, sakwiki, internet), and a few months after that discovered this place.

Now I have about a 100.  :D
I am very interested in the parallel histories, and tool evolution of the Soldier knife and the Officer/non-military SAKs.

I discovered Wenger at that time too and love my Wengers - But would not want to pick between Vic and W.

:multi: -wise:
I do find I am increasingly interested in Leatherman's (only) and love that history and evolution too.
And of course I have a few of those too now (11), alegedly these are all users (ha, ha!!).  :o  :D
I am mildly intersted in the other brands and would kinda like one or two - but it's all a bit much at the moment!!

Not interested at all in folders or fixed blades - never saw the need when you have a SAK.

Not too interested in flashlights either - and don't even carry one at the mo.
My EDC Maglite Solitaire is broken - So I do need to fix that, as, of course, it is good to have a torch on board.
And as an outdoorsey/backpacking person I do have a head torch.

Interested in this post that there are many more comments about SAKs, and SAKs are winning the poll -  ??? I had thought it would be 50:50 here.  :)

Also interested that we have lots of pushbikers here, which I am too.
Love my bikes and all things biking.

I'm not hardcore enough to have much use for plier-based multi-tools. I have a few, but the ones I carry day to day are SAKs.

When I was an electrical tech, I carried a tool belt for a while, but that was torquing my back something fierce. Downgraded to a Super Tinker and never looked back. Most of the time, what I would have needed was an adjustable wrench to go with the SAK, not a pliers.

I picked Folders, but SAKs are definitely a close second, and edging forward.

I love my collection of folders, but lately I've been looking at a lot more SAKs, debating which ones belong in my collection next. I alternate between carrying just a folder, just a SAK, or one of each...

I like SAKs, Mts and lights but the one thing I am never without is one of my Spydies.

Folders for me.
