Keychain tool rotation.
on: July 25, 2015, 01:09:28 AM
So like many of you I have a ever changing knife and MT rotation but when it came to keychain tool/knife not so much. Without really deciding to I put my Wenger Toolchest on there and called it good.

Recently came into a couple of very good keychain tools and am mixing it up a little the last week or so.

Lets see your keychain rotation or if you are a solo player lets see your go to keychain tool/knife.

Will post mine up in day or so.

I recently created a keyring for just tools and it contains a Rambler, uncle bill's tweezers and Utili-Key then there's my Style CS which goes everywhere with me.

I pretty well stick with the Classic. I do have Ramblers, Micras, Minichamps, and Style CS's for scissors,  and do vary it up on occasion, but the Classic just does it for me. Most of the time,  I carry it loose in pocket.

Utili-Key stays on my keychain every single day since 2002, it is perfect.
No plan to add or remove anything from my keychain.

I had a feeling most of you would be a pick a ktool and forget it types.

So here is the pictures of my KTool rotation. To be honest they don't actually ride on my keychain but at the bottom of a pocket attached to a AAA flashlight. That way I have it when I am at home and the keys get put away.

Got this one recently as part of a trade, great little tool.

You can't have KTools and not have a Vic.

Then we have the OG KTool. The light is kind of redundant now that I carry the light so it don't get as much carry time.

I have two seperate keyrings, one for the house, and one for the car (I used to also have boat keys, boatyard keys, and work keys too  :ahhh :ahhh)

The car keys always stay the same:
Key, remote fob, Vic Manager, Res-Q-Me, Photon II

The house keys are the one that change. Currently:
Gerber Dime, house key, Utilikey, 4 Sevens Preon Revo, and an EDC Gear ripoff of the wedgie pry bar to try out and see if it ever gets used

I have more stupid keys than I'd like.  I now have key cards too that are as much a pain to carry as keys.  What I do is have my vehicle key separate with truck key, fob, camper top keys.  I have my house and storage keys separate plus any work keys I'll need for the day.

This is a set up that I've been fooling with the last few weeks.  This is my small tools set up.  LM squirt P4, Atom A0 Ti, Thrunite Ti ( this light is not 162lm IMO ), Minichamp.  Its on a belt clip thing that makes carrying it very unnoticeable.  I love the P4 and have been using it a lot since carrying it.  I unload my pockets when I get home leaving this on my belt which make having tools at the ready nice and easy.

The P4 is the pliers version of the S4 I got from you?

All the cool guys run camper shells, I know it's true because I Googled it.

Sweet truck.  Yes P4 is plier based.  I don't use scissors that much so the pliers make more sense to carry if I need scissors the minichamp is great.  I've switched from carrying my Deluxe Tinker to the P4 which has been fun.

I run a Leer Commercial Cap.  Great top with Yakima bars on top for my ladders and misc stuff.

I don't normally carry an MT on my keys, because when I'm at my desk or at home, I don't carry my keys on me, so there's no reason to bulk up my keys with an MT. The exception is the rare times I'm going REALLY light in the summertime, I may put a Classic or Manager on my keys.

Instead, I have what I call "weekday pocket carry", some kind of light duty tool. Here are the ones that are getting pocket time these days:

Vic Executive:

Wenger Pocket Toolchest:

Vic Clockwork Classic:

Vic Manager:

Vic Evo 14:

...and if I'm REALLY feeling heavy-duty, the Vic Explorer Plus:

Aloha are you a carpenter or some such?

Smaug I too am a fan of the Toolchest. Explorer is your heavy duty carry lol.

Question for everyone. Can I take the light scale off my Pocket Toolchest and replace it with a pen scale? Does Wenger even have one of them?
