I strongly prefer the current solution for 91 mm with having it as a part of the backspring. Strong, simple, the polishing of the spring ensures no sharp edges. Even if I rarely use the key ring for anything.+1 Steiner - very comfortable in use.I don't like the 93mm nub at all though. I'd love it if a hollow rivet was standard - then you could decide for yourself whether to have a lanyard or not.

But they didn't idiot-proof it enough, I still see 91mm keyrings under awls pretty often.
Yes, erNo!Well, sometimes...+1Seriously though, if I need the keyring/lanyard to help pull the SAK out of a pouch or if it's riding vertically in a pocket then yes, but most of the time I want my EDC knife to fall to the bottom of my pocket, so no. But then again, to attach a 58mm on a keyring requires one. These kinds of questions mess with my OCD.
I use them with a pocket clip to keep the knife hanging upright in my pocket instead of lying in the bottom of my pocket, which is especially useful when I'm wearing pants with very deep pockets and I have other stuff in the pockets that might mar a knife such as keys or a money clip. I don't carry many pocket knives without a ring for a lanyard.
Generally I like a SAK sans keyring, just feels better in the hand. Less of a pressure point, especially when rotating the drivers. Also, I Had a lanyard on one and it kept getting in the way when I was trying to make some pilot holes with a 93mm. Plus I don't care for the loop to rattle around if theres no lanyard on it. I have put lanyards on a few but I don't feel there's much benefit to having one.

On cellular SAKs, on problem. Alox, no way. But I don't much care for Alox anyways.
