Steadily climbing the post count ladder.
on: September 12, 2015, 04:39:47 PM
I've been steadily moving up the post count ladder.  Getting through the 6K field is taking a bit of time without spamming.  Only 2 on the 7K rung and MadP is at the top of the 6K rung.  It's interesting to see how many are on the 8K rung.

I wonder how long before I hit the 5 digit rung?

I stopped paying much attention to mine around the 6k mark. My post count doesn't mean anything, neither do badges or where I am on the "leaderboard". All that matters is I enjoy my time here, enjoy good conversation with good people, and try to help a few folks out along the way.

Trying to boost your post count is about as futile as trying to bump up the mileage on your car. It's merely a result of the journey, and boosting it for no reason just hurts the "environment".

Just my take on it

Interesting view!

Whenever I consider my post count, and its lowness, I want to raise it. But it doesn't inspire me to just make more posts to raise the number, just like if I wanted to put miles on my odometer, it would be because I wanted to go for a drive. It inspires me to get more involved, branch into new subforums, and continue more direct conversations, because without contribution, the higher number is meaningless.

Hopefully that makes sense, just my $.02 :)

Edit to add: I do like having a low post count because my member status changes faster (yay hero member!  )

I try to post when I feel I have something to add or simply to acknowledge a fellow members contribution.  I'm in no race to the top just an observation.  I had noticed MadP and I were within a few posts then the spamming began.  I lost track until a few days ago when I noticed we were close again.

It has been fun chatting it up and trying to offer something meaningful or just a chuckle.  Never a contest to the top just an interesting note that I had close to 7K posts in what seems like a short time, I was tripping out how much of a blabber I had become.

It happens fast.  It's interesting to see the stats as well.  Where I spend the most amount of time and the hours spend on.
