What's the consensus on the Rev?
on: September 16, 2015, 10:21:46 AM
Yes, yet another thread which could have been avoided if I used the search function, but I like talking to people here. ;)

So, I'm thinking of picking up a Rev, but I have never handled one, so I'm wondering, what do people here think about that tool? Is it universally hated? Adored? “It will be liked by people who like that sort of thing?”

There are a couple Rev threads here. Here in the US, Lowes had them for $25 and they were slashed down to $18 and they disappeared. Guess they didn't sell too well.

Consensus is there's rarely a consensus.

I've not handled one and don't foresee getting one unless I pick on up at the fleamarket on the cheap.

I have one and its crap compared to a charge al or surge but its a cheap basic multi tool that does the job, i wouldnt abuse it like i would my other tools. i keep it on the top of my Maxpedition multi purpose bag, only today i was restocking it as its a car boot bag and i removed it from my bag for a fiddle, i noticed that the clip on the side has a lot of play in it and will need tightening. This is a tool I've never used.

Yeah, that's what happened with a lot of search queries when I was digging around in web shops. :)

I have a few MTs, so I think I'm pretty realistic about what it is, but that still sounds pretty bad... Perhaps save my money for more of the nicer shinies. Anyway, thanks for the answers and input, everybody!

I'm not a fan, but it's well worth $20. I'd think anyone only spending that kind of money is not going to be a power user, so for occasional use its just fine.  I've got no real issues with the poor quality at that price point.  What do you expect?

Well... NIB is 20 USD. It means second hand it will be 5-10 USD...

I mean really.. a full-sized, original Leatherman, even if bad, is still pretty good... I'd buy 5 or 6 for 5 USD each, to keep in the car boot, at work, in the basement, whereever I need something legit and I don't care if I break/lose the tool... and yes, I do baby my Spirit X  ::) ... I had even gotten a duplicate for edc, but needed funds for my Spyderco addiction  :D
