A somewhat dangerous utility knife.
on: September 20, 2015, 04:02:30 AM
I bought this utility knife earlier today because I didn't not have this model in my collection. Well after playing around with it, I must say, this is a dangerous little knife. This knife features a very easy blade locking mechanism. Push the button up to disengage the locking mechanism, and the the blade will fall out. Let the button go and a spring pushed the mechanism close. So far, so good. However, the button is placed exactly where you are going to place your fingers to open the blade. Now, the blade is opened via another button that needs pressing, but this time, the button is located on the handle. So, to open the knife, you must press down on the handle button, and pull open the blade. However, I have trice did this and have the very sharp blade either fall onto my palm, or thighs. You cannot open the blade, and pull on that button that is so misfortunately placed. This design sucks actually, even though I love how easy it is to replace the utility blade. It is also easy to release the blade when you are not intending to.

A shame, as there are some good points about this little utility knife. Love the shape and ergonomics of the handle. Love the button that must be depressed to open the blade. Even love how simple and easy exchanging the blade is. Absolutely hate where they place that button, and just how easy to disengage the blade as you are opening the knife.

Haven't you gotten a PM from N_N_R to buy this already?  :ahhh This sounds perfect for her :P  ;)  :pok:

Reminds me little of a Superknife that i use at work. When i put pressure when cutting something hard, it tends to release the blade, and so close to cutting fingers at same time. Huge design flaw.

Man oh man. I am retiring this tool to a drawer post haste. I had to open a package, and I spied this piece of offal on the table. As I opened it, the blade disengaged and dropped the blade. I looked down fearing the worst, and saw the blade sticking up from the kitchen floor only a few mm from my foot.  :o

If you do it quickly, will the blade fly like a ninja star??

Ship it?! I bet she got a couple of cuts just by looking at the pics and reading the review...
