Week 2 Report:
Craftsman 45505 is another very fine example of keychain tool.
Aside from its physical limitation, it is very function.
A good set of pliers, all locking implements, sharp blade, long drivers, will provide convenience to your daily life.
You must wonder, how does it compare to Leatherman Squirt?
Short answer is, 45505 falls short.
Even through 45505 has relatively strong pliers, but the handles are arrow and sharp at the ends, altogether makes difficult to get a good grip to use its pliers. In contrast Squirt has wide, rounded handles, plus the pliers are spring loaded, that really takes the cake. I can comfortably give Squirt a firm squeeze but I cant say the same for 45505.

For the 3rd week of October, I will be using this Kershaw Select Fire.
Is it a Multitool? Well it depends on how you look at it, if SAK are considered as knife base MT then the Select Fire definitely fall into the same category.

Right out from the box the 3.4 inch 8cr13mov blade is razor sharp, solid strong lockup, nothing to worry about there.

Day 18: I personal dislike bead blasted finish on blades, it just make the blade looks dull...
Today I gave Select Fire a polish on its blade and pocket clip, the knife looks very pretty now.

Just saw that last week, it seems nifty, expecially if you already carry a bic lighter.

Is it me, or does this tool seem to be aimed at a more "relaxed" crowd?

Also, what happened to your Powerlock that sawman must die for mentioning? (bracing for impact.... :megaslap:)

That is what I thought but turn out to be the opposite.
I been carrying a bic lighter in pocket everyday for 20 years, now all the sudden the Bic lighter got bigger and heavier, it really borthers me and feeling uncomfortable with it in pocket.

I've never seen anything about that tool that particularly made me think I needed one. It looks kind of terrible, IMO.

I'd like to know what you think of it's various functions.

Week 4 report: Lighter Bro
Sorry I been extremely busy last week, working on costumes for my kids, did not have time for daily report, so here it is.
While a normal Bic lighter is 0.5" thick, with lighter bro installed it became 0.75". 0.25" doesn't seen much on paper but for those who are very familiar with Bic lighters, it is actually kind of significant, at least to me. I constantly aware of something in my pocket, not uncomfortable but just noticeable. And .75" is the thickness of a Surge.

Lighter Bro adds three tools to your Bic lighter, a blade, scissors and a super long mini driver.

The blade is about 1.75" long, straight with blunt tip but has no belly. It looks like a later opener and in fact works very well in such function. Not super sharp out from box but enough for normal cutting tasks. I cut quite a bit stuff with it in the pass week, cardboard, tapes, plastic hose, rubber hose, all performs as expected.  The blunt tip on blade is suppose to be a a flathead driver, .... failed! I haven't find any screws that it could fit and there is no way I would a sharp blade's tip as driver, just too dangerous.

The scissors is ugly, the 1/3 of its edge from the tip doesn't cut anything at all, but the rest of 2/3 cuts well. Tried them on duct tape, card board, heavy nylon strap, leather strap, no complain there. In fact i just butchered a whole backpack with it today for building a costume for my older son.

The super long mini driver, I have no use for it at all, other than used it as a tooth pick once.

Overall, LighterBro is like gluing a Victorinox Classic to your existing lighter, but in a more tasteful way. Each implement doesn't NOT perform better that the ones on Classic but do function.

Built this costume with Lighter Bro.

Out for trick or treating on Spooky night, I brought my scariest MT with me.
Fortunately all the works on costumes were done, other than opening a few packs of candies I didn't need a MT too much.
Happy Halloween everyone.
