Sorry I laughed at your Skeletool CX.

I don't recall you laughing, more like wrestling with something in your mind.

Always worth remembering what's normal communication to A, is a scathing remark to B. Be it on cause of habit, local culture, differences in sense of humor, or simply levels of knowledge of English. My wife and I have the same first language, but she regularly thinks I sound mean simply because I grew up with other norms on what's normal conversation compared to her. (What can you make fun of? What does it mean to make fun of something? Etc, etc, etc.) That's two persons of the same age, with the same language, face to face...

Something it's right to apologize, even if you did nothing wrong.

I think there might also be a bit of an echo chamber effect going on here. The last several tools that have been the most pilloried on here (Tread, Signal, and the sports ones) seem to me to be getting more attention form the public at large than just about anything else, especially the Tread. Just remember, a lot of the tools that are most highly regarded on here are either long discontinued or pretty much niche items. MT.org members make up a vanishingly small percentage of multitool buyers, and any company that catered exclusively to the expressed will of posters here would go out of business.

I do sometimes wonder about the sanity of some members here who have the unmitigated gall to have different needs or preferences than I. I mean, what's wrong with them? Gerber users, you know who you are.

Also the box/brick shape.  I'm fond of mine actually and have yet to have a failure in what I done with it.  It could use some revision but what tool don't we want to "revise".

I won a OHT in a give-away in August. If I haven't yet posted a review that's mainly because I can't decide whether I find it infuriating or simply indifferent

It came with a couple of flaws, too, like a completely blunt (read: useless) can opener and significantly misaligned plier jaws

I opened a can of salmon for an arvo snack.

I used a Leatherman OHT and a Gerber MP600.

Post which side you think which MT opened.  :pok:

Gerber right and LM left post

Nope sorry, left Gerber and right Leatherman.

Check out the BO wear on the OHT from half a can.

Almost 24hrs and only the one response, what a bunch of slackers.  :P

Hmm. Point taken. :tu:

Is that can opener's tip rounded and the edge not sharp, like they are on my copy?

I admit I haven't tested the can opener as it inspires no confidence in me. I'll give it a try first chance I get.

Maybe I was a bit quick on passing a verdict?

Yeah rounded tip and blunt.

The jaws will probably settle together after some use too.

Yes I have :twak:

It's not that I haven't tested the tool, rather I haven't made up my mind yet.

That and finding a review format that won't be lengthy and deadly boring  :P

I use Vic can openers almost exclusively so I am biased towards them.  I don't care for the LM type tho in a pinch they work.  My OHT plier tips are nearly perfect when deployed and off when not.  Is it me or am I the only one who digs the rattly nature of this tool?

I've not used the Oxygen/strap cutter/driver feature yet.  The blade is shorter than my 91mm SAK, about the size of my Cadets.  It's plenty enough for what I've needed.

Quick, Rough measurements.

No you're not, I'm with you on this one. It brings smile on my face every time I flick open and close my OHT pliers.
On the other hand, using my MP600 leaves me cold.
EDC and OCD. A wicked mix.

 :woohoo:

The tool has legitimate drawbacks however the smile factor is hard to beat.  I also argue that reach is compromised using any MT in areas where screws and such are in a confined space.  Turning srews on a fence post latch with most my non dedicated tools is annoying for example.  The latch itself protrudes and gets in the way of even my beloved Wave.

The Spirit? Yep, I'd call it niche. Just from casual observation, I'd say LMs of any stripe outnumber Spirits in actual use... at least 50 to 1. Probably well over that. On an average day, I'd say I spot maybe... anywhere between 5 and 10 Leatherman sheaths on peoples' belts around this area. I can't recall the last time I saw a Spirit or Swisstool sheath. And honestly, if you pulled out a Spirit and asked a random person what it was, you'd probably get the answer "Leatherman." SOGs; Vics except Classics and maybe Tinkers or a couple others; US-made Gerbers; for the general public, all niche products. Now that isn't to say these tools aren't good, excellent or even nearly perfect. But in the marketplace, yes, very much niche products.

Leatherman is much like when someone wants a tissue they say Kleenex or Bandaid or Q-Tip.  It in my opinion is synonymous with MT for the average Joe/Jane.

Do not assume that whatever is true for the US is true worldwide.

Other than mine, I do not recall seeing anybody with a LM, ever.
Someone did claim to have one.....

As I said many times, most multitool users/owners just have cheap no brand multitools - I do see a few of these....  :D

What annoys me is that even the people I gave LM tools to, do not use them....
