Phelps is a bit scary. I read that he consumes approximately 12,000 calories a day, about six times as much as the average person.
This raises a few questions...
One- can any of the medically trained or knowledgeable people here explain how he can metabolize that many calories in a day? It seems somewhat superhuman without some "chemical" help. Not that I am accusing him of anything mind you...
Two- if that man ever suffers an injury and cannot compete for some time, he will either balloon to the size of a small import automobile in no time, or he will have some serious dietary issues while trying to cut back his consumption/absorption rates.
Three- The US shouldn't "win" the Olympics because of the number of medals Phelps wins. He should be declared his own nation, and everyone should compete against him- although I doubt the rest of the world will have a chance....
