I know everyone (quite rightly) hates Jar-Jar, but the bloody stupid Droid Army comes a flipping close second as far as I'm concerned.  >:(

Why does the Droid Army need to talk at all?  If they are all connected then they should operate as one unit, not a bunch of individuals.  And, telemetry from any one of them should be coordinated amongst all of them, so even if one's targeting sensors are down (which seems to be a common problem with them  ::) ) it should be able to access telemetry from the others.  There is little to no excuse for them to ever miss.

But hey, what do I know?

I wonder what the plastic quality is like?

Lego rip-offs generally struggle with copying Lego's precision molding, so the pieces tend not to stick together properly or be too tight fits. As for what the plastic contains, e.g. lead, I have no idea. And I don't know anything about those specific rip-offs.

Not to mention whether the plastic is safe. They seem to lace lead into anything over there. Have you heard/ seen fake rice, fake egg... from China?

On the other hand, I am amazed at how quick they pump these sets out, and stay recent. LEGO does not seem to do anything about these cockroaches, but flex their muscles on pricing and promotions against US retailers. I used to be able to buy hard to find set on sale. Not anymore.

Lego has some production in China now (stuff like their key chains), and has been looking at off-shoring for quite a while. I guess it's just a question of time till we get rip-off Lego which are high quality.

The main reason not to worry about the Chinese fakermakers is the quality.  There are very few custom makers that come close to Lego quality, and from what I can deduce, they are all US based and have a vested interest in selling their "customs" to people who specifically want "customs" to complete collections.  They are in no way a real threat to Lego.

Most of the fakes you see have such terrible QC that the ink literally wipes off their minifigs.  Ask me how I know...

That may be the case, but in some cases (especially like me) where I might collect certain sets only to build it once and put it in a display case. The quality might be enough for people who do that vs the ones that merge parts into their large lego collection to be built multiple times, and at a more affordable price.

I'm in no rush to buy a bootleg set though just yet.

Good point! Also, why do they carry guns? Surely their weaponry system should be built in. Why do they look at each other when they talk? So many questions  :ahhh

Dare I hope that we've left the prequels behind?  Couldn't be done with much more style either, with Princess Leia's ship from the very first Star Wars screen. 8)

That would be the Tantive IV, manufactured by the Corellians under the command of Captain Antilles, no relation to Wedge Antilles, the only Rebel fighter pilot to survive assaulting BOTH Death Stars.

You know... in case anyone was wondering...

I'm sure one of you chaps can name this silver protocol droid without looking him up, but I can't. :D Still, IIRC he goes well with the Tantive IV.

I'm sure you would get along well enough without me, but I am certain it is not anything you have to worry about any time soon.  I have an attractive young girlfriend and I live in one of the most social and dynamic cities in the country and my lifestyle hasn't changed that much....
