I posted a pic already.

I thought the spinach vs beef thing was to do with the fact that 200g of beef is a lot easier to eat that 200g of spinach.

I think the OHT is great except for the short stubby flathead. I think it could easily be copied in asia.

Cause I wanted to buy it.
As it happens it was re-advertised and someone else bought it.
I have been a little gun-shy since I bought a fake Gerber Det in the early days, and inadvertently almost sold it on to another MTO user.

So the picture attached to this post was the clone? Looks JUST LIKE a LM OHT. Do you remember how much it was?

With all the topic switches, this thread has me feeling like Mugatu...

Ok - I have COMPLETELY misunderstood this thread. I thought you were saying that you found a clone, but you were just asking if their were any, weren't you?

Don't mind me, I'm just an idiot.

Carry on with your convos about spinach and iron  :salute:

(remember your stomach is far from being as acidic as coke)

I wondered about this one, and did some quick research (or what passes for research these days): The pH of Coca Cola seems to be 2.53. Looking at http://scienceline.ucsb.edu/getkey.php?key=275 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastric_acid and http://chemistry.about.com/od/lecturenoteslab1/a/Stomach-Ph.htm it seems the contents of the stomach varies between something like 1.5 and 4 depending on whether there is food coming and some other factors. So, if you are discussing solubility and stuff like that, the stomach will give what you put in there a very much harder, that is more acidic, treatment than dipping it in coke. (Remember pH is a logarithmic scale.)

So, a resting stomach is less acidic than coke, but that doesn't matter much as pH will drop way below coke (i.e. become more acidic than coke) as soon as you ingest something.

That's a pretty good indicator of junk science. When none of the sources agree it means they're all liars and idiots. It's better if we don't pay for that ;)

It's a BETTER indicator that they're using different serving sizes.

Lentils are essentially correct, but one is using a serving size twice that as the other, for instance.

Also, a given food could be independently tested 10 times and get 10 different results on the level of a given mineral.

They're not liars and idiots. The most damning thing that can be said is they're not using large data groups, and not conforming to universal serving sizes.

Yeah, and you'd have to eat a lot more of it to get the same iron intake benefit.

Spinach vs beef - same iron content:

EDC and OCD. A wicked mix.

Now I'm confused too :D. Is the OHT pictured a fake?

I could eat all 200g of beef (well done, please) and raw spinach, top that with a couple glasses of red wine and still have room for dessert   :) :-[

I find cooked spinach to be about as equally appealing as the LM OHT.  I don't ever want either one.....

Spinach is delicious, even cooked. Haven't you ever had spinach sauteed in herb butter? I can't imagine anybody not liking that and I'm about as far from a vegetarian as you can get.

A lot of people who hate spinach have only tasted it overcooked, is my theory. I was no fan of spinach till I tasted it prepared by someone who knew what they were doing. Now I'm a convert. :) (Spinach should only have a very quick meeting with the heat. Otherwise it turns into the bland green goo which too many think it always is.)

one of the simplest ways to cook it is to fry it a bit then throw in some eggs and make a quick omelette

I like spinach fresh, in salads, and have often wondered why it hasn't replaced lettuce on most sandwiches.

I like spinach lightly cooked, like tossed in hot bacon drippings in a frying pan.

Then again, I like stuff like Palak Paneer curry, where it's blended into an almost soup-like consistency.

Big spinach fan here. :tu:

I think you should start with baby spinach. If you go straight into silverbeet sandwiches you'll never go back.

  One has high Fiber content the other has high LDL. Like my doctor says... if it's tasty it's not good for you. Who cares... I pick the tasty one. BTW, by doctor I mean wifey. I hate Dr Oz
