Cutting some thread for getting the paper ready for recycling... The Juice scissors managed OK, but thread is not their favorite food.

Another Kaki, this time I peeled it that worked very well :tu:

Live by the sword... get tickled by the feather

Got this Hanwei feather, a while back I added a diamond plate to emulate an Italian guard. The blade itself is in poor condition and the tip would have to be re-worked if I wanted to use it in combat again. That is why it has been retired a while ago. Today I decided to remove the diamond plate, so I can use it as practice sword for solo practicing.

Disassemble. With better quality feathers, the handle is screwed on with the pommel and the screw is used to keep the pommel tight. Here the screw is all that holds the feather together.

I don't know what kind of metal these screws are. My bet is an alloy of aluminum and lead, probably with some butter mixed in. The Allen drive is just stamped in and gets mangled on first use. The one I removed had to be replaced as the thread was almost completely gone. Fortunately, I still have a couple of spares I got when I complained :D

Since the Allen drive is useless, I cut a slit so I can use a large flat-head to put it back together.

Putting it back together with the help of a hammer and a #6 flat (the one on the Juice was just too small).
Anyone want to have a guess what SAK is in the picture?

All my swords but this feather are at our training place... I really should take a picture of them though. Nothing fancy though, simple tools ;)

Thank you!  I did, regularly till I got hurt/sick.....  :(   I practiced guards, strikes etc. Mostly read on the subject afterwards....need to get the blades out and check them....been put up a while.

I enjoy watching documentaries on the subject (and the Longbow as well).

Took a lamp apart yesterday... Sadly I had to cut the wire so I can transport it on my bike to the recycling facility... Easy job for the the Juice.

Yup, he was changing out the powercord on a lamp when on a wim he decided it was too long but forgot to check if it was still plugged in.

I still have those pliers somewhere.
