Ok... I went for it
on: November 07, 2015, 07:09:50 AM
After many hours spent watching vid reviews (actual decent ones), reading reviews here on Facebook's MT.org and other sites... I still couldn't stop myself from purchasing an LM Signal.
Don't hate; I had to ;-)

I'm sure many if not all of us have uttered those words.  Can't wait to hear what you think.

Congrats! I think it's time to start a Signal owners club. I don't think I have seen one yet.

People can dislike the tool immensely, and still feel happy that their friends have got tools that work well for them  ;)

True, but the bashing really went over the top for this one and it is not the MTO way...  Especially when most of the haters hadn't even handled the tool.

Without wanting to throw the thread off course, as I see it, the MTO way is to allow space for everyone's views. I will say that at first the feedback became unbalanced, as in one-sided, but that has started to balance out now.

However, saying that people who don't like the tool will be eating humble pie, to me implies they were wrong, but I believe their views are still valid whether they've handled to tool or not. I am genuinely pleased that some people like their new Signal, but my views are unchanged (and indeed have been reinforced), and I don't believe anyone should be eating humble pie.

I'll gladly take a membership role in that club.  I'm pretty sure most of the negative comments came from others like myself who HAVE used the Signal.  You can keep your humble pie and your faulty premise.  It's still a turd.

I know the tool has been pretty polarizing. However, Im looking forward to enjoying it, in spite of a few issues I've observed.
It has many of the tools I use most and as a hiker, I'm looking forward to carrying on my next trek in a few weeks.

I need to go grab my popcorn lol!
Seriously though, I know the tool embodies the "specific-market" route LM has been taking lately, but I'm gonna give it a shot. If I don't like it, my Wave, Rebar, Skele CX, and ST300 will console me as I cry in the corner :-)

My opinion, shared by many others, does not minimize or disrespect anyone else's opinion.   I'm surprised that should have to be pointed out.

That wasn't necessarily aimed at you, mate. I've seen your encouraging comments in other threads hoping they like it, and asking for performance review (or words to that effect)

No worries, man. It's an open door thread, I knew there'd be comments on both sides :-) It's a little surprising how polarizing the tool has been amongst LM users ... I'm not worried though; people can like or dislike it... we all have opinions.
If the tool works for me, I'll happily use it. If it doesn't, I won't.   :-)

Nice choice in LM was viewing it the other day and she sure is a striking multitool. I'm pretty sure with a few mods it will be great.

All I've seen thus far is putting a Wave blade in place of the combo. What thoughts do you have for mods?

The signal is still pretty young so there be plenty of mods to come out in future, I didn't get much time to examine it much to think of any mods.

Mail call. Leatherman Signal. Cursory overlook: heavier than my normal "on the trail MTs" but lighter than my Wave. Kampfer, the grip IS wider than normal but it'll work for my hands.
Let's give her a go and see what happens.

Nice one bayoublade, I hope we'll get to see lots of pics of the Signal in the future, and let us know what you think of it after you had the chance to use it for a while, okay ?

I really like the looks of the Signal, and true, a Wave or Spirit will give you more tools, but that also goes for the MUT vs a Surge or Swisstool, and that didn't stop me from buying a MUT from day one ...

Right now, the only thing standing between myself and a Signal is the retail price over here ...  ::)

Enjoy your new tool mate  :salute:.
