Looks like that bit driver feature will be a very necessary part of the design. The on-board Phillips isn't filling me with confidence

Lol, I was thinking "why even include that crappy Phillips? Everyone is just going to go straight for the bit driver." Save that slot for something else. The glaring omission on the PP being scissors.

This, what's up with manufacturers having such a hard time making toolsets that compliments each other? I'm also a bit peeved that it seems as if though they are moving away from exchangeable tools.

Not in love with the fact that the PP has gone away from the interchangeable tools. Besides compound leverage, it is probably the biggest selling point for SOG over the other manufacturers. But it was probably necessary in order to allow for locking, outside-access tools. But if they were going to do that, why not redesign the drivers to make them better?

Another video of the new tools. You get a better idea of the Reactor's overall size and thickness in this one, not as bad as I originally thought. Looks pretty equivalent to the Skeletool.

SOGasm! A drawer full of new SOG goodies getting ready to go home from the SHOT Show. Ripped from SOG's Facebook page.

Reactor looks awesome, although I wish it wasn't assisted. Carrying that in my right front pocket would make me nervous, even with the safety. Love the bit driver, that's a great idea. Seems like a pretty good minimal toolset. It wasn't clear to me, does the bit holder (not the driver but the handle) have a magnet in it, or is it just friction?

PowerPlay looks chunky, kinda reminds me of the MP800. I'm not sure why they didn't just make everything open on the outside. I'm digging the pointy pliers though, and that molded sheath is awesome — I wish more companies would offer that option. I'll be interested to see how the new locks work. The PowerPlier always frustrates me when you close a tool and it pushes the adjacent tools down so the lockbars don't grab them anymore (in the closed position). I'm hoping whatever new mechanism they've come up with solves this problem.

Hopefully these will be awesome quality. Like a lot of folks have said, I love seeing this innovation from SOG!
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Found another video. This one has some really good looks at the new stuff.
Thanks for the video. Its has the view I was hoping for: a clear shot of the full length, and full thickness, in the same frame.

Using some quick and dirty measurements, and assuming that the tool is 4 inches long, the Reactor (not including clip) is .63" thick. This is great, as it actually puts it a tad thinner than the Skeletool. If it turns out to be 4.5", the Reactor will be .71", or exactly as thick as a Skele (but .5" longer, which would be too bad).

Now im really excited for this tool, as long as SOG keeps their QC in check.

Interesting to see how they executed the bit-driver with the magnet at the base of the pliers-head. The PowerPlay looks a lot beefier than the Reactor.

It does look chunky but it is also packing a full loadout. I'm very interested ro see how the locks work. After using the powerlock for a month, the current lock system can be unreliable at times. When does the powerplay release?

Thought that first pic with the Reactor in knife mode was a new SOG folder for a moment as I scrolled by. What a slick design.  :gimme:

I believe I heard Chris mention March in one of the videos.

At first glance I thought the handle would work great as a bit extender since many times you need access to narrow spaces, but it can't work as such due to the compound leverage pliers which will inevitable open as you deploy the handle and therefore would become an obstacle. So, you can use the bit only at the head of the multitool at the close position...

A bit extender would do anyways, and using the MT at closed position to screw will give more secure grip I guess.

I like multitools that allow you to extend one of the handles for longer reach when screwing; but the compound leverage pliers are the very soul of SOG.

I don't know what this is. I can't get the site to open. But Breach Bang Clear apparently have some pics and opinions on the new SOGs

I sort of wish they had named it something else. PowerDuo 2.0 or PowerTrio would be good, too (because the PD was so bad you almost don't want to associate one with the other :rof:). It just bothers me that all of their full-size tools that feature compound leverage are "power-" something, but the Reactor is not. Why not? No more good names? PowerBoost. PowerAid. PowerFlux. PowerSurge. PowerFlow. PowerWave. PowerRush. PowerFlash. Or maybe just PowerReact?

I know it's nit-picky, but the name is the only thing I don't really like about the tool (so far)

PowerWash

I like the name PowerTrio, the three tools it offers are equally strong.

I know, PowerDuo sucks.

I really hope the Reactor is as good as it looks. It is going to be a long wait until March...hopefully it will be the Skeletool killer that it appears to be.

They're giving me Leatherman vibes. I like the Powerplay's lock but the plastic/polymer is giving me an ew factor. Same with the magnetic bit holder...

According to the site, both are made in China. I'm not hating, but with SOG's other China-made multitools (PowerDuo and CrossCut 2.0 specifically) quality has been spotty. To put it nicely. I am now concerned. I hope a couple of what appear to be good designs are not ruined by poor manufacturing.

I'm not sure. It doesn't say on the website. Or, I missed it, if it is there
