It's not a tool, just a slogan, like "Leave nothing undone" or "Remember when we used to make good stuff?". Although "For real life" sounds like they might be bringing a range for people who sit on their arses all day. TV remotes with packet openers and toothpicks, or bogey pickers with automatic horn pressers for when you're stuck in traffic.
Well, like all companies LM (and Victorinox) want to be profitable and they should. So diversify is a great idea. Why should we care or even complain if Leatherman makes ballet shoes and and car turn signals? We can't expect every tool to be designed for us. They make Rebar, Wave, Surge and SuperTool at a great price with even greater warranty. Those companies are not here to serve your whims, they are here to make tools for everybody. You know why they make tools for surfers/skaters/mall-ninjas? Because these folks don't complain as much and they are willing to pay a bit more. If LM made a better Wave (like the old one*) but would charge 20$ more you would complain it's too expensive, if they keep it the same it's not the same quality as it used to be anymore. So go ahead LM, make a Flair 2.0 with bic-holder, spork and fondue fork... I approve!* I'm so tired to hear that it used to be better...
