Sounds like the Signal so my hopes are very low as usual. Please oh please prove me wrong and do not come out with another plastic accessory, overpriced, piece of crap.

The Rebar is the best thing Leatherman has done in the last few years in my opinion. Why not make a bladeless version? What happen to updating the Wave? They could of easily done either of these with very little effort and no extra expense in manufacturing as all the parts needed are already being produced. Seems like the obvious progression of things.

Not really excited yet. It could be anything or nothing, it is to vague for something concrete. I'll reserve excitement for an actual tool announcement

It's not a tool, just a slogan, like "Leave nothing undone" or "Remember when we used to make good stuff?". Although "For real life" sounds like they might be bringing a range for people who sit on their arses all day. TV remotes with packet openers and toothpicks, or bogey pickers with automatic horn pressers for when you're stuck in traffic.

X2. Nail on the head.

I guess they weren't making enough money from the blue collar crowd.

Frankly, it's been a slow steady decent downhill since the OG Wave.  I'm always hopeful and yet disappointed with every new offering.  IMO the only tool they've not f'd up is the ST.  Rebar was not bad, but the QC is all over the place.  I bought a decent one and gave it away to an apprentice who needed it more than I.  I've since bought 3 others and have re-gifted the freaking little nail breakers.  Everyone of them were eventually sent back to Leatherman for adjustment by their new owners.  I will say, from feedback I've had they've performed well after the tune ups, and that's a good thing because my guys are hard on tools.
But other than those tools, Leatherman has been a huge disappointment.

Lol, yet another completely wasted opportunity to actually make and deliver a "real" tool. I'm beginning to really think that LM doesn't have the capacity nor the conceptual ability to actually make a Blunt Nosed or Shear tool.

Hell yeah, they can cram as much garbage and spend as much money on clever marketing as they want.....but its still crap!!

Is this what happens when a founder steps away and the marketing team step in?

LM are going the same way as SOG.

The dull just got duller......no wait.....that's victorinox, right??

I'm quite prepared to blow a few £$€~100 on a quality useable tool - but I wont buy junk, no matter how colourful it is  So my money stays in my wallet. And instead I'll offer them two fingers.

Rubbish!!

Well, like all companies LM (and Victorinox) want to be profitable and they should. So diversify is a great idea. Why should we care or even complain if Leatherman makes ballet shoes and and car turn signals? We can't expect every tool to be designed for us. They make Rebar, Wave, Surge and SuperTool at a great price with even greater warranty.

Those companies are not here to serve your whims, they are here to make tools for everybody.

You know why they make tools for surfers/skaters/mall-ninjas? Because these folks don't complain as much and they are willing to pay a bit more. If LM made a better Wave (like the old one*) but would charge 20$ more you would complain it's too expensive, if they keep it the same it's not the same quality as it used to be anymore.

So go ahead LM, make a Flair 2.0 with bic-holder, spork and fondue fork... I approve!

* I'm so tired to hear that it used to be better...
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

So it wasn't for real all along?

:D  I like 'Leave nothing undone' better!  Or even something like 'For everyday life' or 'For Everyday Carry' could have spike interest whom are interested in EDC.

I'm all for oddball tools for pretty mundane uses - I bought a Bar10der  :D and it does a decent job. If it's well designed (which I appreciate is subjective), well built, and the ergonomics are half-decent (again subjective), lets see what ideas are out there.
