Kosmo's Leatherman Juice Challenge
on: December 02, 2015, 03:51:22 AM
Inspired by last month's LM Juice Challenge, I got a LM Juice XE6 from fleabay.  I like it very much, I don't think it's too big or too heavy to carry regularly and intend to find out.  Maybe it is appropriate that I received it yesterday on the last day of the November challenge. So, I'll see if I can keep this going for the next 30 days.

Day 2: Preparing my cat's daily asthma medication.  Tapping the back of a sharp blade with wood to make clean cleaves in the medication pills.  The smaller pieces are put inside "pill pockets" for him to eat.

Yes. I'm too late for the contest, but I'm going for the merit badge challenge.

Wait, so we can still earn the badge even though the offical challenge is over? Whats the verdict Mods?

They show up as available awards for 7, 15 or 30 day options.  I assume it is a permanent "merit badge" awards, just not part of the initial contest.

Day 3: Trying out the corkscrew.  It seams to work pretty well.  It is easier to slowly remove the cork than the pull method of a SAK.

Yes, you can.   :tu:   And on the way is a general 30 day challenge badge that you can complete with the tool of your choice.   :ahhh

Day 4: I'm curious to see how handy this serrated blade is. What are peoples recommendation for cleaning a LM Juice?  Can the anodizing put up with being washed in the dishwasher?

Bubble wrap, cardboard, packaging foam, rubbery belts, etc are way more easier to cut with a serrated blade than a straight edge. This is something I found out during the challenge. Unfortunately the S2 I carry daily does not have a serrated blade and I miss it.

I would think the serrated blade would also be useful in opening heavy duty blister packaging, but I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. I would also like something like the S2 if it were possible to add a serrated blade.  I've thought about modding my own version, but I'm not sure I want to try it yet unless I had access to a machine shop to to some accurate machining.
