Credit Card Shaped Flash Drive?
on: December 01, 2015, 05:36:18 PM
Hey guys, has anyone seen these live?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221797031638?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&var=520651386314&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I'm really tempted to get one, but I'm not sure if they're really credit- card-thin... and if they are that thin, can they really be that functional?

They've been around for years now. The usb flas drive portion is just the swing out part of it, the rest is just bulk to make it look like a credit card. Maybe as thick as two credit cards

What enci said
Outside of Bulgaria they are very common

They are mainly used for advertising gifts as they have lots of space for writings and drawings.
There are lots of other smaller option available.
I have a tiny sandisk one.

Yeah, I found just a bare piece of plastic in another store and it read 2mm thich, so yeah, more than just a credit card thickness...
And I hadn't seen them before, so, oookay, lol.

Maybe I can name the thread just: FLASH DRIVES, then and we can talk about these if there isn't such one yet?

A better solution/option IMO is to get MicroSD's and a USB adapter and use one of those card holding things.

Might as well, flash drives are neat, little thingies. :)

I've got one of these little ones sitting on my keyring: http://www.dx.com/p/ourspop-op-511-key-style-ultra-thin-portable-mini-usb-2-0-flash-drive-silver-4gb-364794#.Vl4Te78ynIU

I've rarely used it but when you need one there's not much else will do. :)

Nice suggestions :D

I was just thinking if not to get yet another one, yeah, and I wanted it to be smaller ... and yet comfortable to carry.

There are really a lot of options, it seems.

If you will carry it in your pocket get one with a small cover on the tip, or a covered tip, as the small wires can get damaged easily and it may get full of fluff and dirt from your pocket.

No, I'm not gonna carry it in my pocket

I have on in my BOB, one on my keys, one in my organizer and decided to get one for my wallet probably. I'll see, though. The credit card ones looked good to me, but I don't like the thickness, which was expected.

I remember thinking how cool it was all the electronics having shrunk to the point that you actually put the entire drive inside the plug itself when those started showing up. :D

I use an older PNY drive for portable backup myself. Nothing special, just small and simple.

I have some of these. Really good and ow so tiny: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cruzer-Fit-Flash-Drive-SDCZ33-016G-B35/dp/B005FYNSZA

(Image removed from quote.)
I've got a SanDisk version of this.  Be warned,  It does not come with a method of attaching itself to anything.  What you see on the finger is what you get.  Mine was going on the keys, but it sits in a basket because I can't find anything that will fit in the tiny lanyard loop.
