Bumping an old thread since Smashie has got some of their scissors now, and can vouch for how epic they are.

I mentioned before about a Kickstarter campaign the said they were launching to resurrect an old Sheffield pattern, which appears to have been successful. I've just been to their website to have a look, but their site security cert has expired. I've sent them an email to bring this to their attention....

I'll keep you updated when I find anything out  :tu:

My #1 pair of scissors. I've had them about 30 years and they've not exactly been babied over that time, they have cut fibreglass cloth FAR too many times but will still cut the thinnest "onion skin" paper cleanly.

9 1/2 inches overall with 4 1/2" blades.  I would have thought they would be a metric size, being of Solingen manufacture, but they don't measure up at a round number of mm in blade or overall length.

I'll throw up the photo I used in the other thread.

Now I want kitchen scissors and a smaller pair for my son

Here's my current kitchen and BBQ scissors, the CRKT Crossover.

The belt sheath is particularly handy during BBQ season, or even when car camping. The scissors are quite good in their own right, and they have a bone cutting notch, grill cleaner, screwdriver/prying tool, and of course the ubiquitous cap lifter.

The scissors also separate and the scissor bow folds away, to form a chisel edge knife. Not the greatest kitchen knife in the world by a long margin, but can be useful during those camping trips or when on BBQ duty

My 18 yo niece just started cosmetology school and I was curious if anyone here happens to know about hair cutting quality scissors?

Any info or pictures would be appreciated. Thanks
SAW

All I know is that Ernest Wrights that me and Shashie got our scissors from do a range of hair scissors. They had a full display of hairdressing kit in the factory when I visited. Other than that, I know nothing of consequence...... sorry  :-[

Seems to have been one of those weeks this week, Al sent me this link earlier on

Quote
Nick Wright, the owner of Ernest Wight & Son Ltd, passed away suddenly and tragically a few months ago. Despite all of our efforts and hard work to move the business forward, it wasn't to be, so it is with deep sadness that I notify everyone that the company has now gone into receivership.

So that's another good product gone

A couple more:
An Eloi Pernet desk set with very fancy file worked scissors(case not shown)
An unusual set by J.Wiss & Sons Not sure what they were actually used for.
A pair of Wiss flower shears.
A pair of hand made scissors with what look like Chinese characters on them.

Thought I would post up a few more pairs of scissors. Some are a bit unorthodox(actually most of them are) but fun.I'll try and describe them as I go along.
First up is a pair of folding scissors made by Griffon Cutlery in Germany(pictured beside a 4 blade Griffon knife).Shows how they open and close.

Page two:
First up is a J.A.Henckels manicure set with a pair of buttonhole scissors(top)and regular ones on the bottom. The rest of the items in the set are made of carved mother of pearl velvet lined leather case.
Second is a Japanese made tool kit set with blades that fit into the end of the adjustable wrench. First set I have ever seen with a scissors insert.
Next is a combination folding letter opener and scissors.
Last is another kit by Daniel Peres that has a corn knife;two pairs of scissors and other tools including two straight razors on the other side of the kit.

Page three:
First up is a variety of medical knives.
Next is a pair in an old dissection kit from about 1880.
Next is a folding manicure set that allows you to select a tool and fold it out for use.

Page four and out:
First is a sterling silver handled folding scissors and button hook that looks like a pocket knife. Came in it's own little case.
Last is perhaps my favorite pair of scissors:Manufactured by Joseph Rodgers and Sons circa 1880 the handles each contain a tiny(1")knife blade. The handles are ivory and it is held closed by a tiny silver cover. The amazing part about these is each side is made up of a single piece of metal machined to shape. The only other metal piece is the back springs.
