What Knife is on your Wish List?
on: December 15, 2015, 06:35:32 AM
I recently visited my local knife store and "kicked the tires" of several knives that have caught my attention recently.

I played with a few Sebenzas, a couple Microtechs and even a extremely fancy titanium knife that has a pocket clip that, when not in use, lays flush with the scale.  I can't remember the model or maker of that titanium knife, all I remember is the price tag that came with it... a little over $1,600.  I'll have to get the model next time I'm in there.

I also checked out several more affordable knives from ZT and Benchmade.  The one that has made my wish list is the Benchmade CLA :gimme:. I really like this little knife, slim, lightweight, push button opening, BM's excellent 154CM steel and imo, very classic and comfortable lines.  I think this will be my next BM purchase, just need to decide if I want the black coated blade or the satin.  I'm leaning towards the black blade at the moment.

So what knife is on your wish list?

The 204P Military was supposed to drop this year...

Does not look like they hit that deadline.

The only knife I really want.

Maybe a M390 ZT350 in second place.

There's one more Enlan I have to get......

I have the Persistence, on the menu for this year is the Ambitious, Tenacious and the Resilience.

Hopefully the CS Finn Wolf early in 2016.

I would like to get a RAT folder, just not sure how to go about getting it....maybe 2016 is the year I get a credit card.

There are many fixed blades I still want, but the list of those I can afford is getting shorter........and I much rather make myself a few dream blades in 2016.

I had my eye on the BM 940 for a while.  I missed a chance to get it at what I was comfortable paying.

I also liked the looks of the Reate knives which seemed priced pretty fair.

Hmm maybe something from TOPS would be nice too.

I'd love to try a Spyderco Bushcrafter or a BM 162.

Several other fixed blades.

There's quite a few knives I like the look of, but nothing that I would say is "on the wish list". What I already have seems to work very well for me, and I'm going to stick with what I've already got for the foreseeable future, otherwise I'll just end up with more stuff stuck in drawers, not being used  :)

Spyderco Positron for me... but not seriously.
As much as I like that knife I don't like walking around with such an expensive item, when a much cheaper can do the same job equally well.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I have no idea because I'm not actively looking at knives. I trust you lot to bring all the  worthy sharp things to my attention eventually :D

I'd like a OHO folder with durable, grippy scales and a 8-10cm blade and a full tang (all the way through the handle) fixed blade (blade lenght about 10-14cm) at some point but I think my needs are already covered for the forseeable future. Besides, money is scarce while bills are many and also I need to handle a knife before acquiring so that doesn't help either.

You may want to take a look at Glock 81 Field Knife.

I've moved away from expensive knives too. Thankfully I didn't buy many before deciding the cheaper options can work just as well and be just as much fun. I just have two underused folders, one of which I'm considering selling, and a couple of fixed blades which can suffer from drawer confinement due to being carbon steel. I just keep grabbing a cheaper stainless blade instead.

I'd like to have one knife of every kind. I don't mean every single model of a brand, more like one model of each brand. Better still, one knife of each distinct characteristic:

Backlock, axis lock, frame lock, barrel knife, materials, etc....

I already bought some just because they were "unique": CS Kudu, CRKT Klecker Nirk, Douk-Douk...

I've been looking at Bark River Classic Drop Point Hunter and the Feather Weight Drop point.  I dont hunt but they look like they'd be good if not great for every so often carry.  I'd probably use either for food prep since I do all the cooking.  I can also see them in an everyday cut/slice roll.  I rarely cut boxes nor open mail with these type knives, I use my SAKs.

The Koa and mosaic ones are gorgeous.  I have no clue what Elmax steel is but damn gorgeous blades.

EDIT

I also love the Brave EDC in A2

I've been wanting a good fixed blade lately too.  Probably would have pulled the trigger on a Benchmade 375 already if is wasn't for those darn serrations on the spine. They look cool but I personally think they take away from the utility of the knife.

Various WWII issue knives. Namely, a wood-handled TL-29, made by various makers, not just Camillus  Also, I want to figure out where my grandmother put my WWII vet broken Mark I Marine Fighting Knife (not sure on maker, I seem to remember Pal being the maker) that I found in an old shed.  It needs new handles, a good de-rusting, the blade retipped, and a KA-BAR sheath or equivalent that fits.

Randall Astro.   Such a cool knife with a lot of history behind it, but my '68 Jeep is not even worth the $520 the maker is selling it for. I don't have that kind of money.  Maybe I'll find one at a flea market for pennies on the dollar being sold by a clueless seller.

Benchmade Infidel 3310. Black McHencry drop point edition.

Found one on Craigslist for 120 bucks, the guy responded once then never answered. Real Bummer. That's a steal on a dream knife.

Since you mentioned TOPS, I had to go see what that had to offer.  Now I want a TOPS Mil Spie 3 .  Anybody have any thoughts on that blade?
