I should add that before the Signal, I rotated through a variety of MTs.  My G1 Wave, MP600, Diesel, Rebar and Swisstool were all carried much of the year, but none for two months straight like the Signal.  I don't see that changing much either.

That's pretty interesting.
I actually find it a bit odd myself.  I just really like it and it's the one I grab every day (except Sundays with church).  All the others have more equipped loadouts, but my SAKs are well equipped anyway.

This is the interesting thing about this place and the choices each makes.  While maybe not the target for this tool ( no offense Big Guy ) the tool has spoken to you which is awesome.

I'm still so fascinated by the tool choices and am so thankful there is no one perfect tool.  What a flipping boring site this would be, at least for me.

Glad also to see you digging this tool  :tu:
No offense taken my friend
I'm not a target customer in the survival/camping sense, but it offers some basics for me that I'm glad to have (OHO knife, pliers, hammer and my modification of swapping out the wood saw for the combo file).  I can't totally explain why it chose me though

Keychain excluded it has been spirit. Included it has been squirt. Though rotated quite much so spirit is not a clear winner. And carried mostly in pocket. Juice is my holiday carry usually, ST300 outdoor and spirit I just take when need to catch something quickly with me (more heavy duty then keychain).

I have two - rather similar. But it is the Climber or the Super Tinker. They are part a fix part of my EDC rotation. I don´t carry them on my person, but in my jacket or vest at work. So I´m always equiped - at least for the most situations.

Climber, OC Pioneer, Spirit, in that order. Next year the Spirit will probably climb to #1. :)

For me it's been the original surge, Boker Plus Subcom 42 Ti, CRKT Liong Mah Design #5 and the Fantoni Dweller.

Longest consistent carry of 2015 was my wave with the buck 140 packlite skinner.  I carried this combo, with the sheaths sewn together, for 4 months.  Carried other stuff before and after, but nothing else was carried for so long to the exclusion of everything else.  I was trying it out to determine if I liked the whole concept of the combo, and considering if I wanted to make some custom sheaths specifically for similar combos.

Probably my LM Style PS, as it paired well any Alox SAK.  Also carried my Wenger EVO 16 a lot when I was around the house.

Good idea for a topic :tu: I like to rotate my work carry every so often, but my off-duty carry has almost exclusively been the SwitchPlier 2.0 since I got it in August. It also rode along with me at work for a couple of months. Since mid November I've been carrying my PowerLock at work. Prior to carrying the SP2, though, my work carry alternated between my modded Wave, Flik, MP600, and MP400. My off-duty tool before August was split b/t my wounded Octane, knifeless Wingman, and rarely my Freestyle (thanks Breezy) although it mostly stays in my bike's seat-post pack.

Taking all that into consideration the SwitchPlier 2.0 is probably my most carried tool of 2015.

Nice to hear someone giving real serious trust and carry time for the Switchplier. I have to ask though, how is the Octane wounded? (I may have missed the expaination before)

I think I over-exerted the plier-head and warped the pivot. Or the jaws as they relate to the pivot. Not really sure what the cause is but symptoms are that the pliers sort of stick in the "jaws-closed" position. Previously, I could hold the tool horizontally, and gravity could easily open the jaws when I released the bottom handle. Now I need to use some effort from my pinky to open them. It is annoying enough that I no longer enjoy carrying my beloved Octane, so I retired it in favor my old Wingman, and the SP2 since I got it. Bummer, too - IMHO the Octane is/was the best pocket tool available. Slim, light, deep-carry clip, nice OHO knife, decent drivers (the phillips sucked, though) and it was comfy in hand.

That's a real shame. I like the Octane too

Great story.

For me it has been a Spyderco Military of some sort. S30V, SE 440 or this Cruwear beauty.

Started off with the old Juice S2 mainly. Then I joined MTO and the craziness began  :D  Realized how expensive it is to replace an old S2 and got a new S2 as my EDC. Started a rotation with the Juice line up mainly as I started collecting them. To sum up...

50% Juice S2
20% Juice CS4, C2, SC2
10% Juice KF4 (Ob1's challenge)
10% Squirt PS4 (Kampfer's challenge)
10% Signal
10% Others

Wait, that's 110%

G'Day,

Have to agree, a nice thread. I think 2015 was a good year. We saw the start of monthly challenges in Dec 2014 and that set the foundation for quit a few surprises, at least for me.

My biggest surprise was how good an EDC the MUT can be. Yes it is big and Yes it is heavy, but very versatile. But, my Most Carried multi was/is the OHT. I was originally sceptical about the big tool with smallish tools and blades, however it has changed my view towards it completely. It is not my all time favourite, that title goes to the mighty Charge Ti.

In order of % was the OHT, MUT and others.

Cheers,

Pete

Good point. If you carry always one tool and sometimes two, I think you can go over 100% :)

I was trying to think whether it is the Pioneer or the CT29, but then I realized while I switched up my pocket carry from time to time, there was ALWAYS (yup, even during the Juice Challenge) a Spirit RT in my backpack :D

2015 was the year of the New Wave for me, as the Old Wave retired to a drawer somewhere.

So, 10 years later, I'm on the ball with progress and innovation!

Of course, the New Wave did not actually survive the year, and has been set aside until I can get it repaired.

Original Supertool has been carrying the burden for the last few months, and will do so until Feb, when hopefully a new member of the team will step up.
