Interesting equal-area projection.   :tu:

I'm not sure why they had to invert it to make it geographically "equal", but I'm not real smart either.

Supposedly the people in the Southern Hemisphere feel inferior, because we associate higher with being better, that is why Greenlanders are so full of themselves, and why Aussies are so meek and timid.

It was inverted simply to give a different perspective that emphasizes the Third World. The equal area was created by reducing the spaces between lines of latitude as you move closer to the poles. Various map of this type show up from time to time, often created by people who claim the standard Mercator projection is racist because it overemphasizes the importance of Europe and North America. In fact the Mercator is a navigational projection. While distances are skewed, directions are correct. The main problem is how to you transfer a round globe to a flat map. Lots of different ways to do it, with each having various pluses and minuses.

Whaaaaaat  :megaslap:  At least South Africa is still South Africa. For us Canada and Mexico switched basement and attic spaces but still neighbors so it's all good.

Can you explain the Quebecois who migrate here for the winter, and lie in the sun until their skin is like leather?  I'm trying to understand why, in the name of all that is holy, these 70 year old, 300 pound men feel it is appropriate to wear a Speedo?
Is this a normal Canadian thing or just for the French speaking?
