bear grylls pocket tool sales sample

I picked up a bear gryls pocket tool with sales sample stamped on the blade a while back at a flea market... never saw one with that before.. is this considered rare??

Sounds like a "demo" model that dealers gets for free (or very cheaply) from the manufacturer (Gerber) so the dealer can better sell the tool.

IMO, probably not worth anything special to the collectors out there, unless you can find a hardcore Bear Grylls tool collector (ive never heard of one).

On the other hand, its probably just fine tothrow in the glovebox as a backup. i say use it!

What do people think of this tool generally?  I was thinking of picking one up if I saw it cheap, but it just seems so bulky/heavy for what it is.  Lots of wasted space (my number one pet peeve in multitools).  It is kind of cool looking though.

Honestly, aside from a beefier blade and grippier scales, I don't think it makes much sense to pick over say... a Victorinox Tinker, which has the same set of tools plus a few extras.

Here's a review that deals with exactly that comparison:

That's a shame, because I would love to see Gerber make a good SAK competitor.  I don't need fancy materials, I am fine with Chinese made, but this just seems like poor design.  A missed opportunity.
