Hello everyone
on: August 23, 2008, 08:44:00 PM
Hi folks,

I only found out about this forum last week from a friend when we were chatting over on British Blades and some people may know me from there. On the multitool front, I only have experience of Leatherman stuff. I had the original Wave since they came out and eventually gave it to a fella when I bought a Charge. Along with this I have a purple Juice at my desk and two scissor model Squirts on keyrings.

My main passion would be the countryside and game fishing. I enjoy using knives and have made some good mates along the way. I see a good thread here on Slippies so I must post there sometime.

Thank you and cheers,

Mark

Welcome to Multitool.org!  We have a few BB members here, and a pretty large UK contingent.  Just watch out for Ben and Mike... and Dunc... and Nezza...  oh yeah, and Neil.  Oh and Flash and Jock are bobbies, so you'll want to be careful around them... then there's Gareth.... :D

Welcome to the forum! What Charge model do you have?

Hi Leatherman1,

My Charge is the Ti model, mainly because I wanted the scissors option. I got it when they came out and have carried it ever since. Everything is still going well, albeit for a tiny amount of play in the pliers - which I did when building Christmas decorations. The only thing I really don’t like is the Velcro sheath closure. It has lost all of it’s grip ages ago and just flaps around. I am planning to buy the Charge TTi very shortly and I’ll go for the leather sheath and stud then.

Having said that, I still love the sheath design and I find the pockets very useful. In one sidepocket I carry my Arc AAA torch and on the other side pocket I have a stubby pencil and Regine Swiss tweezers.  In the backpocket I have the bit kit as well as the 2mm Allen key for my Sebenza.

Here’s a picture of the Charge & sheath, then a snap of all four of my Leathermen :D

Hope you don't mind Mark, what happened to your Charge's pliers?

I use the pliers all the time! The only occasion where I maybe went overboard was on a nut, when building a Christmas decoration. The item was overtightened at the factory and I tried several times with all my strength to free it - that's what caused the (and it's hardly noticeable, actually) small amount of play. To tell you how tight is was, I eventually gave up and locked onto it with a pair of vice grips, shearing the bolt  >:(

As to the blackening, that's caused by cleaning my Kelly kettle every time after I use it. Maybe not the ideal tool, but it does fine. This Charge is definitely not pampered!
