Liner Lock Question For Modders
on:

Has anyone tried to put a liner lock for the main blade in a 91mm SAK? I wonder how difficult it would be to do.

Spork had a crack at it a few years ago, I don't know if he took it any further.

Nope...never finished it
It was based on the liner lock used in the BSA Cub scout knife and some Schrade slipjoints. It's not the best design but it will block the blade from closing accidentally.

I don't know which would be harder, liner lock or slide lock like the 111mm knives. You might be able to fit one of the 111mm slide locks into the cellidor handles somehow. It would have to be thinned out and the liners would need to be slotted. Could work?

I think the liner lock might be easier...the pin lock actually engages a hook in the backspring.
I suppose it might be done with a slot in the end of the tang though...

Here's the really dumb question- would a regular aluminum liner work, or would you have to make a new liner from some kind of springy steel?

It's OK...I'm used to answering your questions by now
I would use brass or steel.
