Favorite Opening System for Folders?

I did not include automatics (usually button anyway), semi-automatics (which use another opener anyway), or waved openers. :P

Exotic/Other blankets everything else that is not-so-standard. Please clarify!

So? Tell me what's your flavor. Tell me what's your flavor. What's your flaavoor?

(And I forgot any, please do tell.)
Got those frog legs.

Ill vote other because I love waved knives.  I dremeled a couple knives into waved openers.  My Boker worked out extremely well, my LM knife turned out just ok.  I have small hands (just my hands, right wifey? what do you mean scared turtle....) and find the waved knife to be the easiest, quickest to open without changing my grip to work it.

Of the very few knives I own, my favourite is the Leatherman flipper. However, I've voted for "exotic / other", and I'm thinking specifically about the Kershaw E.T. toggle. Mad, dangerous, but really, really cool  8)

I'm looking out for a good deal on an E.T. even though Flash's bit me

I used to come here a lot.

I have looked on there a few times after I think Spoon sent me the link.  Their stuff is ridiculously cheap!  I am hoping to get a couple of torch parts from there, so I'd be interested to see how long your order takes to arrive.

One really good thing is that because everything is so cheap, there will be no customs risks.  :)

I have yet to buy any cheapo knives from that site. But I've picked up many electronics accessories and I love how cheap they are! =D

And by the way, I voted thumb stud. Usually I love flippers but I have to reorient my hand after for the fist grip, whereas the thumb stud is more direct. Only when properly smooth, though!

Davek-Do all a favor and do not pass it along.  I find myself ordering cheap crap off of there all the time.  I have a memory card and a key chain tool en route. Its addicting.

I notice they do sell Fenix torches too - so it's not all cheapo. It's the shipping costs that are unbelievable though - Free worldwide. I can't think of anywhere that does that!

Fenix-store does free worldwide shipping.  :)  Apart from them, I don't of any others either.

I've yet to meet a One-hander I truly love, but I've got beautifully manicured (and hopelessly frail) nails. My usual folder has a hole to make it easy for opening with gloved hands.

Go for the hole, they work much better if your wearing gloves, or if your injured...or drunk :D

I love the flipper on my Hinderer XM-18, so I would have to say flipper.

Sometimes change is a good thing, other times not so much!

Nail nick, hole or thumb stud all work for me, though a hole or thumb stud makes things a little more convenient. I have had a flipper, and an assisted opener, I never really liked them and consequently got rid of them. What I will say is another important factor is, will it accidentally open while in my pocket? Safety first, convenience second.

I voted "other", because I usually just double-click the left mouse button to open folders.  You guys seem to be complicating the process.  :D :P

I voted for exotic/other for the Benchmade Axis lock.  Easy to use and sturdy.  Other companies are beginning to copy the idea.

I sat on the beach today, languid & golden, like a great god cut from polished bronze...

Anyway, as I looked out to sea and enjoyed the Surge, I pondered my feelings on One-handed blades...

I noticed two things as I sat and meditated on the issue.

1. I don't like the lack of tension - it doesn't snap open or closed. Where's my backspring?!  :ahhh

2. Sand looks rather cool with blood all over it.

(In case anyone cared - I survived the ordeal, though it cost me $4 (erh, $3.97) in medical supplies.)

Anyway, back to a nice safe two-handed SAK for me.

I'm sure there was at least one hunchbacked god with a speech impediment, one ear, & skin that seared in sunlight...

Maybe I should try a flipper, you thumb doesn't pass by the pointy bit with those.

Nope, however you may well liberate that same thumb if you try and close the knife one-handed.
