Stealth mode activated, pt 2.
on: April 17, 2016, 06:33:47 PM
I had a Amazon gift card and really debated on either buying this, another Rush 12 backpack, or some Knipex bolt cutters. I decided on this. I still really want the Knipex bolt cutters, but I will have to pony up the cash for them eventually. Here's the newest Spydie. I have wanted the BO Salt 1 since they started doing the Salt 1 in BO which was a year or so ago. One thing I noticed immediately was the blade rubs on the inside of the scale. I also noticed the blade already had a slight worn spot where it is hitting. It would take more than a few opening/closing cycles to do this. I also noticed the serrated edge had some fibers on it like someone wiped it down with a silicone cloth. I suspect it may have been used. I could just be going crazy though.

Pics.

Some pics with my loved Launch 4.

Just some size comparisons.

Great... you made me want another knife... sooo cool... now I know what my birthday present will be

All the coolness of the Salt, but with a sleek, subtle look...

If you get bored with it, feel free to unload it this way  :D ::)

So the Salt is Delica sized correct?

I thought the Launch had a 3.something long blade? Yours is much smaller.

Your Salt is stealth. Looks awesome.  I want one. Mine is anti-stealth:

But I do have a stealthy Native:

I just got a Salt too! And already put it to work in the garden.

It's excellent for trimming, opening fertilizer bags and cuting hoses. Love the Salt series!

That little Kershaw is pretty fricken sweet Capt.  May I follow up by saying the H1 is gorgeous but, and not that my 2c is worth anything, I like the colorful H1s "better".

Thanks. I love the Launch 4 to pieces and will NEVER get rid of it.

I love my colorful H1's as well, but I already have those. Well I have black scaled and black bladed H1's already as well, but not in full serrated.  :D

Yes Delica size-ish. The blade is slightly longer, but not by much. Probably 1/4" or so.

There are many models of the launch. This is the Launch 4. It has a 1.9" blade.

.

Yeah the Salt 1 is Delica sized. They also make the Pacific Salt which is basically Endura sized.
Waiting for the time when I can finally say; this has all been wonderful but now I'm on my way.

Correct. I debated getting the Pacific Salt in full serrated and still want one, but I already have two Pacific Salt's. One in black handle, non coated blade, plain edge. The other in black handle, black blade, plain edge.

To many Spydies you say?

Could help you out with that.

Get a Salt they are perfect for abusing and not cleaning or oiling. Only negative for me is the point is a little not as pointy as say a PM2.

Exactly.

I have not even fixed the broken tip and the chunks missing out of the SE area.

Send it in to Spyderco for a blade touch up and they can fix it....... for a small fee.

Fully serrated blades have such awesome cutting potential. So many knife owners never come to this realization because they buy the prettier blade, which invariably is the straight edge blade. They may also never cut anything that would require such cutting capability.

Many times in the past I've had to cut a material on which a straight edge wouldn't work well.Fuel lines and radiator hoses come to mind.It hasn't happened but a few times but that's all that's necessary to prove the serrated edge's usefulness.

If you have never had Spyderco serrations please give them a try.  I am convinced that my Spydercos must be fully serrated.  I can always carry a PE of a different maker if need be.

Well Spyderco has been doing serrations before anyone else, yes they "invented" (in a sense) serrated knives.  :tu:

Did not know this Capt.  Make perfect sense then.  I got my Native fully serrated first and thought darn I wish it were PE.  After carrying it for a while that feeling went away really quick.  I then got a Delica 4 fully serrated specifically because of the Native.
