The safety gloves prevented me getting a very nice finish on my finger nails when I was filing them recently with my Classic. But at least I did not wound myself.

In a small EDC-bag one could carry synthetic gloves that are puncture-resistant and fully water-resistant. They can be used for cutting, sawing, emergencies, rescue, car repair, electrical repair, rain, cold, cleaning, chemicals, aggressive animals, heavy lifting, wood handling, rope pulling, carrying stones, etc. They can be cleaned easily.

Additionally one can carry nitril dentist gloves for first aid.

Latex gloves can elicit latex-allerly, so it is safest to avoid those for long-term use.

You could have killed yourself in a moment, if you had hit an artery in your pointy finger.

You should always wear safety gloves when working on trailers like I do.

Fiddeling with electrical wire while wearing welding gloves would be a hell of a job

I've been cut, pinched, burned scraped and generally messed up by knives and tools.

I'm a bit naughty about PPE in general, but knife making is changing my habits.

I trust my mind and common sense to avoid the worst injuries, my body to heal the rest.

Fear no MT  :woohoo:

i often pinch my hand palm (correct me if it's not the term) when in cut some hard wire.
The sudden release of the pliers on the palm is quite hard.

In high-risk activities that demand heavy muscle force, use puncture-resistant gloves. They come in different safety categories.

Puncture-resistant safety gloves are like condoms. You don't need to wear gloves all the time that you handle a multi-tool, but it is wise to keep them near, for more risky activities. Like sawing, heavy blade cutting, wire cutting and sharpening.

If puncture-resistant gloves are too thick for the job, switch to thinner cut-resistant gloves, that offer less protection.

If thick safety gloves are to bulky for a small EDC-bag or utility-vest, then carry thinner safety gloves, that can also be used for first aid and cold rain.

You can protect your feet, with sturdy shoes and a sturdy table. High-risk activities like building construction demand safety shoes with metal toes and/or metal soles.

Don't handle muti-tools when you shouldn't drive a car either. That is when you are drunk, angry, stressed, very tired, very sad, or under influence of drugs or medication.

Learn form previous accidents and near-accidents. Your near-accident history tells you what the flaws are in your safety-policy, safety-equipment, safety-skills and judgment.

This same principle applies for other risk-prone activities, like driving a vehicle, visiting high-crime urban neighborhoods, having serious conflicts, having unprotected sex, or doing survival type activities.

Have fun.

I've not injured myself too badly with any of my tools.  I did however run a razor blade thru my finger pretty good one time.

Heck in all reality there will be some injuries/wounds from stuff we use and things we do.  Falling down the stairs, burns from the stove/oven, paper cuts, and I've even bit my tongue when chewing gum for goodness sake.

I think the lesson is be careful and don't get too comfortable with tasks performed daily.  In terms of injuries/wounds self inflicted, I'd say the severity is of more importance as is the cause.  The tool is the innocent one so long as it wasn't defective.

I was never wounded by an MT and I'm fairly certain that this is exceedingly rare. Pinched or cut yes, but that is a long way from being wounded.

I recently banged my shin on the bed pretty bad, that hurt a lot.
This weekend when I went hiking I was bitten by a mosquito.

I love living on the edge :P

For your interest, since you're asking the questions:

I carry Nitrile Gloves for medical situations and...another sort of glove, forgive me the name escapes me, for handling chemicals.
Neither have any blade protection qualities.

I also carry leather gloves, for handling chains and wire ropes. Though these would probably protect me from minor cuts, I don't wear them specifically to handle knives or tools.

I suffered multiple blood blisters (some user error, some design error. The Multi that was the prime culprit has been discontinued/redesigned)

multiple saw wounds (user error)

multiple blade wounds (user error)

Chicks dig scars, and incidentally, my superpower is blood the same consistency as maple syrup on a cold morning, so I've never done anything to prevent it as far risk management goes.

Me, I was stupid Saturday, comparing the ST300's aerated blade to my Wave's, so how I sliced my right index finger without knowing it until I saw a lot of blood on my MTs and jeans, hurts yet today.

This was not me, but my knife, a CQC-6K.
The fool picked up the folder, flicked it open and asked if it was arm hair shaving sharp as we ran it up and across his arm
Went about a 1/4" deep and about the length of a one dollar bill folded in half.
They skin grafted the piece back on with about 40 stitches to attached.
Stupid is...
