Bought a modified Charge, the black finish was missing where they did one of the mods, sent it back, now they say too much time is transpired.
PM me if you want one of my kidneys for your SOG TiNi multitool.

Mr. Woodson,

I promise that we're not trying to screw you out of a tool.  Here's the info we have:

We have five separate tracking numbers going to your address from 6/11/15 through 10/16/15 relating to repairs and requests
We have ONE order from you.
Your last message was from 10/13/15, more than 7 months ago.
The original order is from 5/20/15.

What business is going to issue a refund or send out a replacement one year from the order date and seven months since the last contact?   We are very glad to correct issues and customer satisfaction is extremely important to us.  We strive to go beyond expectations on repairs and refurbishments. We can't, however, do anything about a missing tool when we haven't been made aware of an issue for over seven months.

We are not interested in responding to threats.

I'm kinda with TTC on this one, why the delay? We really need some photos too.

I can testify that Texas Tool Crafters will go the extra mile to work with you. I bought a gold Skeltool from them which they put a plain edge knife on it for me. The locking bar and the knife blade tang just didnt want to work right The Skeletool made several trips back and forth between us but for some reason the engagement of the locking bar and knife tang didnt want to work as it should. In the end they issued a refund. My experience with TTC is that they are an honorable business.   :tu:    :)
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

I cannot say what is the problem Buck has with TTC and would like some more info from him, too.
TTCs answer here was quick and I can say, although I have not had a return, my business with them (over eBay.com) went flawless.

Buck, what exactly was/is the problem with the tool and are the dates given correct?
I´m with TTC that no business relationship should be based on threats, although until now I can only see a not-satisfied customer airing his point of view.

I don't know Buck, and I've never done business with TTC, so I don't have a horse in this race, but I am a voyeur from way back so I'd like to see some pics and get the full story.

Obviously dodgy claims make life harder for business operators, and anyone with a legitimate grievance in the future, but it's not uncommon for a business and an individual to have different expectations of an item or service.

as for:
Quote from: TTC
What business is going to issue a refund or send out a replacement one year from the order date and seven months since the last contact?

- The following is Australian, and doesn't apply to this particular situation, and is in no way to be suggested as legal advice, but food for thought:

Quote from: ACCC
Statutory rights are not limited to a set time period. Instead, they apply for the amount of time
that is reasonable to expect, given the cost and quality of the item.
This means a consumer may be entitled to a remedy under their statutory rights after any
manufacturer’s voluntary or extended warranty has expired.

I have ordered several items from TTC also with no issues over the past few years.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see any threat in this post?

Bought a modified Charge, the black finish was missing where they did one of the mods, sent it back, now they say too much time is transpired.

Seems like a simple statement of fact, and I'm sure a less aggressive response may lead to a better solution.

I am not going to dictate to TTC how they do business, but I will say that I feel the above post comes very close to being disrespectful to an MTO member, and that is something I will not allow on this forum.

As I don't know what has transpired in private, I will give both of you (TTC and Buck) the benefit of the doubt and offer my services in any mediation you may feel is necessary.

•I bought several knives from TTC.  As I recall there were other things wrong.  It's not my fault they can't track their business.
•It's not my fault they dragged their feet.
•I recall one of TTC orders went missing supposedly due to flood.
•It's not my fault they have no concept of quality control or customer service.

The reason for TTC fast response was I sent them to this post saying I would update if and when they resolved the problem.  (Threat?)  They are treating this as public damage control.  If they had resolved the problem this thread would not exist, I was not aggressive.

The bottom line they have shafted me out of $400 to date.  They don't even deny it, just say that its too old a problem to fix.

I personally apologize if my response was perceived as disrespectful to a multitool.org member.  My intention was only to offer the facts and avoid extortion. We were threatened with a negative posting on multitool.org if we didn't send out another tool or refund.  This is the threat referenced in our response.

We greatly value the community support we've received over the years and I'm not going to allow a forum subject like this go without response.  The offer of mediation is appreciated, but there will not be a replacement tool or refund issued in this case.

Everyone has had their say.  Rather than let this turn into a public slugging match, let's either end it or take it to PM's or emails.

TTC has stated that they do not intend to take any further action.  I don't think there is any more that can be said that may be constructive.

Not constructive,

But it is VERY hard to believe you without a photo evidence if some kind. Beyond that it should be common knowledge that any finish wears down?

There was no finish whatsoever on one side of the pliers.  I sent it back.  How much finish wear is expected on a new tool?

I understand everyone makes mistakes but not everyone does nothing about it.

Can't provide a photo as they have the tool and fool that I was I trusted them.  Don't make that mistake.

Yes they have the tool and the money.  They are acting like this thread is a threat and is the only reason they won't work with me but here is my last response from them prior to the thread:

Mr. Woodson,

It's been 7 months since we last heard from you and we were under the impression that all issues had been resolved. Given the amount of time that has passed unfortunately there's nothing we're going to be able to do.

I have been pinging them intermittently both emails and calls with no response.

Do you have proof you shipped it to them and they still have the tool?  Are they saying they don't have the tool or its lost?  Is this what the issue is about?

I'm with Syph here- this issue hasn't been presented with a great deal of clarity. Buck, do you think you could put together a timeline of events perhaps, so we can understand how things got to this point?

Seems to me they should at least return the tool, whether they do anything about it or not?

Def

I hate to jump in without really knowing what's going on, but it does sound like TTC owes Buck the tool or a refund. You can't keep the customer's money and the item, that's definitely not cool.

They have the money, they have the knife.

Their only claim is its been too long which is their fault not mine.  It boils down to being as simple as that.

They say I threatened them (which they must construe to be this thread as there is nothing else but this thread was only started after they told me to lump it).

Well if that's the case then I think anyone in your shoes would feel rather annoyed as well.  I can somewhat understand not wanting to address some issues if much time has passed but keeping the tool and writing you off all together is a head scratcher.

The original order is from 5/20/15.

Bought a modified Charge . . . sent it back, now they say too much time is transpired.

So help me out here.

1) when did you buy the Charge?
2) when did you send it back to them?
3) you claim that they are now in possession of it?
4) do you have a tracking number?

Very short, direct answers are best please, because my brain is shriveled.    :)

thanks   :salute:
