TUSK Camp Knife / Multitool

G'day campers,

I'm seeing a bit about this TUSK (The Universal Survival Knife) knife, apparently created via kickstarter, and available for the last few months (the reason I'm seeing  a bit is because I'm looking for it) but I have not seen any decent reviews (just the usual fluff that is more or less copied from the website, or customer feedback "arrived on time, super shiny, best knife ever"

Was anyone tracking this? Did anyone help fund the project? has anyone bought, or even seen and handled one since they came out?


If you're not sure what I am talking about, you can look them up yourself, I'm not linking the manufacturers page, but it's called a TUSK.

Once you've looked it up (and done a bit of clicking around to differentiate between the umpteen different knives called "Tusk") you'll see it's even a 1 piece Multitool, with wrenches, a hammer, a firestarter, and a rule!



On, let's call it face value, since all I've really done is read ads for it - It kinda seems half decent. Yeah the multi-tool aspects of it are kinda hidden, and probably a bit of a pain to access, but they're there if you get desperate, and knife-wise, it seems as good as any other knife (wait for it) at half the price point.

Not sure I would triple or quadruple my budget for one of these when for the cost, I can have a decent hunting knife and multitool, but I'm an open minded sort of lad, so I'd be happy to hear different and be told that this blows every alternative out of the water.

It looks good, for most camping you wouldn't need the kind of tools it's hiding very often but there are a couple of cases where you're going to be really happy to have them. My point is that it might be OK to do a bit more work to get the tools out since you're not going to do it all the time.
