I got the Wenger (er, Victorinox Delemont) Junior 09 off Amazon for $12 in today. It's the ultimate basic SAK for me, as it only has my basics--locking blade, nailfile (thought it had a small blade there, but it's got the nail file), saw, and Phillips driver. Problem is, it has the blunt blade, typical of the Junior series. It's bugging me, but I feel I should leave it alone--that way, I can use it in close quarters to people, animals, or things I might risk puncturing with a normal knife if I have to, especially considering most of these things will have to be done in an emergency. My first knife was a plain old beat up Schrade Old Timer 34OT Stockman. It didn't have such a blade. I want to reprofile the Junior 09's blade to a sheepsfoot pattern, which should be the easiest to do, but I don't really want to modify it and risk goofing up.
So, what's your opinion--fix the dang blade, or leave it alone for use as an emergency blade?
