Forgetting the cost of the Jeep itself, there's probably close to $10k in wheels and tires alone... figure almost that again with lift kit, gears, custom (or aftermarket) bumpers, modified or replaced fenders, skid plates etc.  My guess is that if you are going to put close to $20k into any vehicle it can perform pretty well any way you want it to, be it off road or on the track.

Besides, while off roading is fun, the reality is the worst any vehicle like this is really likely to encounter (inadvertently I mean, aka, without deliberately going and looking for problems!) is going to be wet, rainy, snowy or muddy conditions, and in those situations, AWD is not just adequate, it is exemplary.  Don't buy into the "Jeep hype" because it is complete and utter poo.  Besides, I know guys that can drive anything and get further in the woods than many Jeep drivers can!

Not to mention it now rides like crap on road and drinks gas like no tomorrow, and that part time 4WD system is almost worthless on road. It's why I'm going from Jeep to Subaru.  :D

Now, in all fairness, you really liked the way my JKU rode....  :pok:

thanks everyone,  yes I am so excited, and it sucks that I have to wait to pick it up, but I will post pictures and a review.

and even without the optional safety equipment (auto braking, collision warning, etc)  the IIHS gave it a top rating

this is something MTO has that other forums lack.  I came to the forum with something not forum related, and everyone is kind, informative, and supportive.   :tu:

It is indeed very minivan like, I'll admit.  :P You'd be really hard pressed to find anything rode worse than mine though, and 10 years of that is enough for now.

I think the Kia is quite big, but is it big enough for useful 3rd row seat?

The 3rd row is fine. Not massive, but usable by adults.
Much better than the one in the LR discovery sport, nissan xtrail etc.

I got the fitted boot (trunk) liner for mine,  they are worth the money just for the how good the 3rd row seats look after 2 years with dogs jumping all over.  It's a bit slidy with shopping in the back but not to bad.

since KIA likes doing things in packages some based on engine, some based on selected package, some based on FWD/AWD  there are some small things that I am not sure if I am getting or not.  but of all the things I do know..  I am very excited.  it is suppose to be ready by Saturday, but with any luck I will get it before then.

I can imagine how anxious you are to get it!  I know when I got my Jeep it drove me nuts.  It was made worse by the fact that the dealership was screwing with my head.  It was expected to be delivered some time in February, so I had put it out of my head- then in the end of January on a Friday afternoon the salesman sent me a photo of it saying it had been delivered days earlier and no one knew what it was for so they'd put it aside and gotten on with more pressing things.  Of course the day was over by the time I got back to him, so I had to wait until Monday, at which point it still wasn't ready... yadda yadda yadda, I think it was the following Wednesday that I finally got it!   :ahhh

Did you get any sleep last night or were you too busy fantasizing about robbing banks and getting away with the new car, while at the same time foiling international terrorist plots and having gorgeous European women falling madly in love with you as you whisk them away to safety?

Being an International Man of Mystery requires exotic women.  Detron, being from the US, would be more used to Canadian women and so they wouldn't have the same intrigue.

That autonomous emergency braking thing amuses me.  I have always had an analogue version of that in all my cars to date.  It was called a "windshield" and when used properly, braking was not an issue!  :P

Seriously, I am super happy for you and I'm looking forward to your thoughts on it!
