What is so special about PSTs in particular? I keep seing a lot of threads and comments about this model.

Also, uhm, made-in-Japan LMs? Why are they so special?..

LOL I feel like I'm missing something, finally I got to say this out loud  :D :D

Well, the PST was the first "modern" plier based multi, so it is historically significant. Despite its age, its also a very usable, simple multitool!

The Japanese and other early models are quite rare these days - that's why everyone on here is after them.

I used to come here a lot.

That is a rare one - you don't see many JPST version 5 with hollow rivets (most were made with solid rivets).

It had been on my watchlist before it got mentioned here.  I've dealt with that seller on a few other items, and they usually accept my offers.

I only had one JPST, and it was getting lonely with all of my other PSTs being American.  Now the JPST has a buddy.

For the record, which is older on a JPST? A blade stamped "leatherman" or one stamped "leatherman Japan"?

I'm not sure the marking on the tang is a good way to "date" a JPST.

The PST chronology thread describes the differences between the three versions (v3, v4 and v5). Mainly handle stampings, lanyard attachment (or absence) and can opener.

In the v5 variants I think the ones with hollow rivets are probably older than the ones with solid rivets.  I've had four v5 JPSTs with hollow rivets, the other eleven all had solid rivets.
